I think Mary turned to be the way she is because she was aware that she was living in a jail called Fabricated World, unlike her "brothers" and "sisters". This awareness slowly drove her insane, imo. But what also worsened things is the fact that she was alone, without any kind of affection nor freedom and the fact that she lost her "father". Isn't that just depressing? It really makes me feel bad for her, she would have been a great character if she had (emotional) support. More than 80% of the people that played this game rode the "Mary is a crazy, bad and mad girl" train, which is only the surface and the after-effect of her trauma. And if you think that I over analised stuff, this is a game about paintings and sculptures coming to life, what do you want? ~Unpopular very VERY late opinion~ WARNING: MASIVE SPOILERS And for those that don't know what's Ib. Ib is a rpg horror game with multiple endings where you play as a girl Ib (the red eyed girl). She and her parents went to a museum, but strange things started to happen when Ib realises she's all alone. She is lured in the Fabricated World, a place with a lot of rooms and puzzels, where creactions that came to life try to stop her. Later on, she meets Garry, a man from the museum that was also lured in Fabricated World. After some chaces and more puzzles, the 2 of them find Mary (the blonde girl), that stated that she came from the galery and wanted to find more people to leave this place. Ib and Garry alowed her to join the team. But, suddently the three of them find themselves separated by some vines that grew from a painting. Ib and Mary on one side and Gerry on the other. Both sides agreed to continue the adventure on their respective sides, helping each other with puzzles till the girls arrive to the Brown Room and Garry to the Violet Room. After some puzzels, Garry openes a library where it is sais in a book that Mary is not a human, but a painting that looks like one. One of the painting herd him reading the book and told Mary. She started behaving weirdly, Ib seeing her stabbing a manequin head, one of her brother or sister. After all the puzzels are completed Ib recives a key that opened a room. Note, Mary is no where to be found. When she goes in that room alone, Mary catches her and asks her why did she leave her behind, pulling out a pallete knife that she found in the adventure with Ib. Meanwhile Garry is trying to solve a puzzle on his side, but is trapped in a room with creepy dolls and a painting called Red Eyes, that try to capture him (this is where you can achive different endings, if he's caught that leads to an ending, in he's not, that leads to other, but let's say he escaped). While Mary was treathening Ib, Garry arrived and stops Mary from hurting her. After Garry pushed her on the ground, leaving her unconcious, they left her there and continued their jurney, Garry telling Ib that Mary was a painting as well as the others that tried to kill them so far. After a while, they arive in a place called Sketch Book, that is said to be Mary's place, drawn by her, trying to make it look like the real world (isn't that a little sad?). Mary is looking for them all around the place, and almost finds them in one of the houses, but then leaves. After the puzzles are finished, Ib and Garry found a key that opens a house with a "toy box" in it (Mary's house, I think). They were told that a pink key is situated in that toy box, and by reciving it, they could go to a Fabricated World version of the gallery where they can go thru a painting like in a portal and return to the real world. But Mary finds them and pushes the in the toy box. There they find themselves in a room with a lot of drawing and "toys". Ib can't find her rose, the thing that was giving her life and told Garry that started freaking out. In an attempt to find her red rose, they find the pink key. After that, they hear Mary talk with a creepy doll about this beautiful red rose she found. Garry is willing to trade his blue rose for Ib's, and Mary accepts. While they continued walking thru the toy box, they see blue pettals scatered around the floor and someone saying "Loves me... Loves me not...". Garry starts to feel weak and told Ib to go by herself (Garry's rose was torn apart by Mary, that way killing him. It sais at the beging at the game: "You and your rose are one. If your rose withers, you wither with it.) Ib grabbed Garry's lighter and continued her journey alone, where she found Mary playing "Loves me (not)" with Garry's rose, saying that she could finally leave this place and exits the toy box. After that, Ib goes into a room with a shattered painting on the wall, toys and drawings one the floor. Mary comes in the room and freaks out when she sees Ib there. She pulled out her knife and told her to leave. Running from Mary, Ib arives to this shatered painting (Mary's painting) and burns it with the ligther she got from Garry. Because her painting was destroyed, Mary died, turning in a pille of ashes. If you inspect her room you will find some interesting things. A book where it says "How to make friends" (😥) and a diary, where it says that in order to leave the Fabricated World she needs to take the place of someone that comes from the real world (I think that Mary killed Garry as a sacrifice, for her to leave the Fabricated World, but Ib stopped her). Ib leaves the toy box and find the pink door that would lead her to the painting portal called "Fabricated World". When she was about to jump in the portal Fake Garry tries to stop her, but she refuses and jumps in the painting. Back in the real world everything returned back to normal, but she can't remember a thing. While serching for her parents in the museum, she finds a painting that she is really drawn to, The Forgotten (in the painting we see Garry, lifeless against a wall with blue rose pettals around him and thistels.) While starring at this weird painting, Ib's mom told her to come with her because it was time to go home. After taking one last look to the painting, she went after her mother. This is a bad side ending and the most common, the most likely one to get thru your first playthru, "The Forgotten Painting" ending. Besides this one, there are 9 more ending. "Ib all alone": this is a bad side ending and has 4 varations to it. "Welcome to the world of Guertena": a bad side ending where Garry and Ib lose hope to ever return to the real world. Mary stays with them and threw a party for her new friends where she invited a lot of the enemies that we encountered during our play. In the next cutscene we see dead Ib and Garry lying lifelessly on the floor while a painting called Lady in Blue ripps pettals from Garry's blue rose, and a completly insane Mary that says that they will have a lot of fun together. That ending is pure hell... "A painting's demise": just like the previews written ending, Garry and Ib lose hope, but here, Mary leaves them there and find her way to the painting-portal. But something's not right... there's no one in the museum and the lights are dimed. While walking around the place, wall writtings say that she did a mistake and that she has to pay. After a while, we see purple and black painting covering the floors, the lights diming even more and the sound of footsteps aproching. While the lights are completly off, she crouches, scared and crying. The last word we heat from her is her yellin "Father!" before dying. "Memorie's crannies": this is a good side ending where Ib and Garry escape the Fabricated World safely, but they don't remember each other. "Promise of reunion": just like the previewsly written ending, but they remember each other in the real world. The best good side ending. "Together, forever": the best bad side ending. When Garry dies in the toy box, Ib decides to not kill Mary and go to the portal. Mary follows her in the real world. There Mary becomes her sister.

Victoria Jonson ib didn’t burn it, Garry burned it. He didn’t like Mary because she’s not real and she was going with ib so Garry scared that Mary will hurt ib or do something terrible to ib. At the end, Mary wanted Garry and Ib go outside the room but they didn’t so Mary turned angry and I think she wanted to kill them too. Garry and Ib were going to the end of the room and saw a picture or glass or something. They just have one choice at that time to escape is kill Mary by burning that glassy thing, and I think you know what will happend next.
