I have used these controller grips for at least 6 to 8 months now with thise plastic tabs and 90 percent of the time, it works perfectly to pop the batteries out. Here's the key and took me a long while to realize this... make sure the plastic tab is clean and dry and not greasy and the same for your hands. Have a small bottle of alcohol near by when it's time to replace the batteries and go over the plastic tab with it and also your hands. It sounds like a lot but really only takes a couple of seconds. You also have to pull the plastic kind of at an angle to the battery and not straight up and try to wrap some of it around your finger prior to lifting and popping the battery out.

Thank you for the advice, but this is not the resolution. The tab will slice my finger, or rip apart (like the AnnaPro one did in that review) before the battery pops out. I learned that we must have different spring pressures, as discussed with another commenter here. Even with your solution, I'd still call this a design flaw if it takes that much effort to remove a simple battery. I guess some users had softer springs which allow the battery to pop out more easily. This isn't the case for me, and the companies designing these 3rd party accessories should consider this during their R&D. Unfortunately for me with my controllers, I am unable to remove the batteries with this method.

Once I open the little door after the grip is on, I have no problem pulling the battery out. It may depend on how much pressure that internal spring is putting on the battery. I guess every controller may have some slight variation, but these grips work flawlessly for me. YMMV.

Which controllers do you have? Quest 3? You saw in the video the effort I was putting in (literally shaking lol) to try and pull the tab to remove the battery without any luck. In a previous video for another product (AnnaPro) their controller grips had the same issue, and the tab actually broke as I was pulling on it so hard, but the battery remained still. I'm sure the pressure on the spring plays a role as well, along with the concave design of the battery compartment that holds the battery in place. This design does not work with my Quest 3 controllers, unfortunately.

@@ThisKory Yep, Quest 3 controllers. Just popped the batteries out again, no issues. There seem to be so many different manufacturing variances between identical Quest 3 controllers (like the battery springs, or the annoying loose thumbstick click) that make them really difficult to manufacture 3rd party accessories for. It sucks you had that issue, because otherwise they’re a pretty decent strap grip solution, even for my big hands!

That's an unfortunate issue. Well, my review is still my review I guess, nothing I can do about it as it's due to manufacturing discrepancies from Meta. Some people will have this issue, some will not. Perhaps the companies who created these grips could have added a larger window so we can manually pull out the battery (without the need for the pull tab), or maybe some other design to ensure the battery can be released for those with stiffer controller springs. Maybe their next design will improve on this, until then, I guess some people, like myself, are going to have issues here.

I just use a small dull screwdriver. A little pressure applied to the bottom of the battery just pops out. Removing the controllers each time sounds like a PITA. I have never removed mine. Definitely a design flaw though and using a screwdriver is kinda ghetto.

True, I actually do replace my controller batteries somewhat frequently

About the design flaw, can one just lift the battery from the other end with one of those straps? Or are they firmly attached at one end and that's it?
@ThisKory3 ай бұрын
The negative side of the battery is deeper inside the pocket and with no strap cutout to even install one of those pull tabs on that end. I hope this answers your question.

@@ThisKory just bought one. We'll see. Thanks for the review and for showing how they align with palms while not being gripped.
