The coaxial 20 mm is awesome when you are reloading or repairing and there's someone in front of you because you can basically break their cannon and tracks and wait until you can shoot back and there's no way for them to counter that except maybe moving a lot to throw off your aim but still a nice secondary gun

you used an AMX-30 DCA for the thumbnail, and I thought it would be fun. So I'm asking you now to play the AMX 30 DCA cause that is probably the most viable vehicle to play at 8.3 for the french tree. Basically a Gepard with both canons in the canter of the turret and an APDS shell in the main belt instead of 40 rounds on a secondary one. So same belt for ground and air targets and you have a ton of ammo + you're basically stabilized

"Basically a Gepard" is insanely wrong. No stabalizer, combined radar instead of seperate search/track, the fat reload of the Falcon. Saying 'it's basically stabalized' is wrong on so many levels, it's so unstable firing for more than a second results in you tipping back.

@@MJRSoap for having played that tank quite extensively, you can fire on the move no problem. The accuracy is not the best but vertical guidong speed makes it more or less centered. And i'd rather have a little spread rather than a huge distance between my canons like on the gepard. Also I did not see any differencr in radar performance, both track tragets very well

Idk whats the problem with all the other 8.3 vehicles... i've been playing France since a fairly long time, the AMX-30 DCA is certainly a good vehicle, but in my opinion the most reliable one is the AMX-30B2 Brenus, and also the the AMX-10RC... eventho its 8.0 it still performs very well! Both of these vehicles would make up for a good video i think! Especially the AMX-10RC cus if i remember right Spookston mentioned he likes light tanks!

Its up to them if they buy up the vehicles and mods, they get free GE if they are a partner, most have 10's of thousands of GE sitting there if needed. I also believe they get some type of creator token that gives them a lot more 'on tier' or 'down tiers'. You see how he was surprised he got an 'up tier', that's my surprise if I get a down/on tier. Its like that with most to content creators. It make commercial sense that Gajin would do that, as it looks like the game is 'easier' and there is not the anger and frustration with the creator coming across on video about being up tiered in 90% of the games like the majority of us.

there's also a fun alternative strat with the AMX 50 Surbaissé and its HE, it has a really nice explosive mass and you get the quick reload, so full HE is kind of viable and it's really funny IMO

Hands down my favorite MBT in the game, and at the BR of 7.7, there's so many light tanks and thin armored vehicles that the 20mm almost comes up like the .50 on top of the M8 HMC, where you can use it to take out a lot of targets without your main gun

Hey Spookston, you might have had a little bit of an easier time doing this one if you had weapon select controls mapped, if you haven’t already. I personally use the same ones as in naval battles (Alt+1 for main, Alt+2 for secondary, Alt+3 for machine guns, and Alt+4 for all weapons), and it really changes the game on using weapons other than the main gun. If you didn’t already know, it uses the 3rd person cursor and 1st person gunsight of the currently selected weapon, and it’s been insanely useful for changing camera perspectives to the weapon I want to use, and for using MG’s to take out aircraft, since I have the correct cursor to aim with. Plus it keeps my turret facing in a safe direction if I don’t want it to move while using MG’s or autocannons. You may have even been able to see that dude through the crack with your 20mm if you did

why don't more tanks have coaxial auto cannons to supplement their main guns? Seems like it would be very effective against infantry and unarmored or lightly armored vehicles (and for heavily armored vehicles, you would already be aiming your main gun at them)

A coax cannon takes up a lot of space inside the turret which is already rather limited and the added capability is realistically not worth the added problems. What you do see a lot these days are remote weapon stations on top of the turret with a grenade machine gun or similar for suppressing infantry and unarmored targets, for the rest the main gun and coax MG will do just fine.

Im not sure about the AMX-30 (Because I dont have it) But on the LEO 2K and T72-M2 if you select the machine gun as your weapon (Need to set a key bind for it) you can move your sight to be through the barrel of the auto cannon instead of the main gun. Would have been useful here especially at 3:30

Well that's because it's armor is about as good as paper. DM33 from a 105 can pen the turret and the hull armor is non existent like most vehicles so that's not a huge issue. The ariete has to play really hard on the don't be seen part of the survivability onion. Aside from that it's got a pretty high pen round for a nation not of the big 3 and has decent speed equivalent to a leopard 1 not the fastest top tier mbt in the game but also not the slowest. The ariete works best as a sniper or a flanking vehicle. Due to its paper armor you shouldn't get into close range brawls with anyone and always change positions when sniping especially if you've been spotted.

A while back they fixed the 20 mm's on things like the AMX-30 and the R3 T20. Apparently the 20 mm shells were modelled larger than they were supposed to, which made breaking barrels and tracks significantly easier. Very sad. The AMX-30 was less fun to play after that change. Also, doing this challenge is absolute insanity. ;)

I don't know what happened since I grinded through the AMX30s, but since then the 20mm feels soooo much weaker than it used to be. I know there's been a buff to barrels and tracks armor thickness at some point, but even lightly armored vehicles like BMPs, Obj 120, Bradleys feel so tanky to the 20mm. If you did that video a year and a half earlier, you would have had much more fun.

I think the original commenter meant he using only the 20 mm in AA form. Since France only has the amx 13dca until 8.3. The AMX 30 main cannon will not elevate, but the 20 mm will elevate about 40 degrees making it perfect for AA use at 7.7. I hope you try this again but as an AA this time around.
