This made me respect Santos, so much more. Basically got in Amy's face and told her, if you are in this for your own agenda then leave, like the brat you are trying to convince Santos to go with your views. Or you can grow up and actually work to get it done, the hard way, like the grown ups do. Just because it is easy doesn't mean it is the right way.
@BenjamUniverse4 жыл бұрын
No. Santos brought her on the inside to help neutralize her. It's a trick Dems do to people to the left. Amy was a power player on the left and has a long history of actually getting stuff done. That's the way DC works.
@jackblack96054 жыл бұрын
@@BenjamUniverse I wouldn't say neutralize. Santos wanted Baker for VP but he also knew that he needs the woman demographic support. Instead of symbolic gesture of making a woman VP, he offers Amy Director of Legislative Affairs so they can make real change. Although Amy's passionate about these issues she's always been in the sidelines being critical, so he's giving her access to do something. Just like with Vinick , Santos is able to identify the passionate and knowledge people. checkmate them into positions in his administration.

I feel like they were stacking the cast because they knew it was ending and that they wouldn't have to write for them. Just a television dream team. With what they were building, who could have written it? Maybe they'd have to get Sorkin to write something like that.

No, she did roll her eyes. Word got out Josh and Donna were in a relationship and Amy never stopped liking Josh. There was an episode after they broke up when she whispered to Josh that she missed him and he heard it and she tried to play it off. She was jealous of Donna here.

Shades of his running mate right there: talks with someone working against him and his administration's interest, confronts them about it, lets them know they're not in a position to dictate terms or move the dial, and then offers them a job and a chance to be a force for completely positive change, instead of the half-negative change they would be. Specifically, the woman that leaked Leo's recovery details to the press comes to mind

So as someone who isn’t American, can someone please explain to me what the Director of Legislative Affairs does?
@PaperbackWizard2 жыл бұрын
Well, Congress is the legislature, so without Googling it, I'm going to guess that Legislative Affairs handles all the White House's dealings with Congress, laying out their agenda, that sort of thing. The West Wing never showed anyone in that position. They just had Josh and Sam and Toby and occasionally C.J. take meetings with people. But I think LA is supposed to do that.
@PaperbackWizard2 жыл бұрын
Now that I think about it, Ed & Larry might have been from Legislative Affairs. No one ever specified what their roles were in the White House, but they *did* show up at a lot of high-profile meetings.
