Over this last Christmas I saw people judging the Gills and I couldn't help but speak on their behalf. Granted they don't need me to. But the profound message that came across was who are we to judge. What we really need to be doing is rejoicing in their love. Their love is so very rare. And we are so blessed to witness it. I married a very sweet unsuspecting girl who was raised in a loving Christian home. I put her through an emotional meat grinder. This song was obviously a premonition about these two. (As seen in the video), when Amy & Vince recorded it, "the lights were certainly coming on in the house of love". There were other people involved; not just Gary Chapman who by the way seemed to provide the escape goat for Amy Grant's conduct. It was not the way the public speculates and buys into. Amy Grant had an inappropriate friendship with Vince Gill for years culminating in the destruction of her marriage. VG stated on Larry King live four years into their marriage after he left his wife "he didn't think she would leave" referring AG's marriage. I've watched lots of videos and interviews and from what I understand, her marriage to Gary Chapman was troubled from the start. They met when Amy was very young and had a lot of people trying to tell her to do what was right (to them), stay married. Then one day, Vince Gill walked into her life and she realized what true love felt like and how easy it was to be in love with the right person. I admire her strength and bravery in doing what she knew was right for her in her own soul and wish them all the best.
