I’ve been listening to this song over and over again since coming across it, purely by chance, a couple of days ago. I can’t recall when a melding of music and text has burrowed under my skin with such emotional authenticity as this one has. Amy Helm’s sense of phrasing and vocal color is exceptionally nuanced, and the recording quality, wrapped in resonant plushness, couldn’t be more sympathetic. Gentle, powerful, real.

i heard this song one night after a long night of nightmares and paranoia. i was in the camper, it was really late. my brother sleeping near, my parents outside at the campfire. it instantly brought me to tears. every time i hear this amazing song- i begin to bawl. it reminds me that im gonna be an adult soon, my memories all come to me during this song, and my parents dont have much more time with me. i love this song so much, thank you iowa radio. what wouldve ever happened if i never heard this song? ♡
