everyone's like "right person wrong time." but they were never the right people for each other. Jo knew she didn't love Laurie, not in the same way he did at the time. They were too similar to the point of being siblings. They were platonic soulmates. I'm sorry you don't learn to love someone if there was never a chance of love in your heart. Laurie didn't force himself to love Amy. He fell for her because she pushed him to be better, to figure out his life. That's what Laurie needed. He didn't need a childhood love. He needed maturity. Amy always loved him, yes and people act like that means she loves him more, but it was Laurie that made the move because he was just as in love with her.

But just because you don't get their chemistry you don't need to force jo and Laurie together...his young love for jo doesn't even compare to his mature attraction to Amy. Read the book, watched the films and yet I've never been able to see Jo and Laurie as a couple... They act like kids, like siblings. She never felt anything but fraternal love for him while he confused friendship with romantic love. Then there's Amy, she matured and he found himself falling for the woman she became... There's a different between love and being in love. He was about to change his whole life for Jo even if he was happy with how it was but with Amy... He didn't have to. He loved Jo but he was in love with Amy.

jo and laurie are platonic twin flames, like two people who are so identical it's easy for them to be around one another. they loved each other in a best friends kind of way. meanwhile, amy and laurie were soulmates, who loved each other in a romantic type of way. they matured and realized that they were always there for one another, and they fell in love. jo and laurie loved each other, but amy and laurie were in love. that's the difference.

Hi Mika! I just wanted to say something because horrible experiences. Twin flames aren't real :( I was in the new age and its satanic. I know that the wrod might seem uncommon or harsh but it genuinely was. It was a horrible experience. I was deep in it too. Tarot cards, reading astrology and everything but Jesus saved me when I called on Him because I was drowning. If you like there are hundreds of testimonies on youtube. One that I would recommend is Doreen Virtues testimony. She was a tarot card maker and she knew extensively like about twin flames and everything. But Jesus saved her because it is evil. Now I watch a lot of edits, ship videos, amv's, you name it. But this...I have never come across something like this. It's like film, so carefully thought out and intricately designed. This is the best edit I have ever had the pleasure of laying my eyes upon. I can't stop watching it and each time I do I make new connections between the carefully curated clips and the lyrics. It's so complex. I'm in awe of all of the seamless shifts in relationship dynamics, looking through the eyes of Amy, Laurie, and Joe and feeling it with them as they look at each other. It really does flesh out the world of Little Women in a way that compliments and honors these resilient characters, rather than being a toxically romanticized bastardization of them. And that ending, my goodness, I was speechless. I was thinking "surely this incredible edit isn't about to finish with the implication that Jo would leave Friedrich for Laurie if Amy broke his heart?" and I was right to have faith in evieramosi. It all goes back to the sisters, whose bond is the backbone of the entire story no matter what rendition you look at, absolutely beautiful.

I stand by this comment based on the movie cause many of us didn't read the books so we will focus what went down on the movie and it's clear Laurie married Amy was so rush of a move because he feels lonely and she loved him for a very long time and in the end of the movie it seemed like he learned to love Amy just as much as Amy loves him so they had a kid and were happy. The look on Jo when Teddy told her I think it's meant to be this way made her realize how much she wanted that proposal but in the past Jo was not ready her family was in chaos one of her sisters was married but not financially stable, Amy was not married she is still being readied by their aunt and the youngest was sick so Jo as the big sister she had to find ways to help and Laurie didn't see that, she was a mess she needs time to pick herself up so when time went by Jo is finally ready but the thing is Laurie is already married and they would always have a what could have been if one waited and the other one realized the she loves the other one sooner because by the end of the movie Jo values her family so she stood by and watch them be happy. She was right when she said he'd find some lovely accomplished girl but Laurie was wrong Jo was the one to watch him marry and love another girl in the end Laurie loved Jo but not too deeply he married Amy and Jo fixed herself little by little until she is ready she didn't really loose in the end.

The moment Jo talked to Marmee is a proof that she never really loved Laurie like he deserves. Jo said herself (when she talked about laurie with Marmee) that she is lonely and that she cares more about being loved. Marmee replied that that is not the same as loving. If by the time that she regreted declining Laurie, she really loved him because she truly felt it and not just because she feels lonely, I would have believed the statement that they are the "right person at the wrong time"

Jo and Laurie's sibling like connection as well as Amy and Laurie's romantic compatibility were well portrayed in this version. I did not care for some of the past versions because Amy is portrayed as either some second best option for Laurie or his desire to be a part of the March family makes it seem like he'd take any of the sisters that would have him. Laurie and Amy have always been the romance in the book in the deliberate way LMA intended them especially when Jo's relationship with the professor was forced upon her although she still wrote him to be a the perfect match for Jo in the same way she wrote Laurie and Amy to be the perfect match because of her talent as a writer which is why the story endures.

Some people say that Jo and Laurie are right person a the wrong time, but did they forget that Laurie was willing to change his whole self just so Jo would've married him. And when Jo started to think of Laurie in that way, it was because like she said she was feeling the loneliness. Where as with Amy, he changed without knowing because she was grounding him and telling whenever he was doing something wrong. And I hate to say it but Jo had her chance and missed the opportunity. And I feel like if they were to get married it would've ended up like in Marriage Story. And Jo not being that excited when Aunt March decided to take Amy to Europe and not her was uncalled for, because yeah she could've work in her stories and what not but the reason she would've been taken to Europe was to marry rich and to go to balls and things she didn't like, idk. Also I love how Jo & Laurie have sort of like a childish kind of love, but Amy & Laurie have a matured more adult kind of love/relationship.🤷‍♀️

Laurie's feelings for Amy isn't to be compared to what he felt for Jo. He loved Jo because she's a comfort to him, and vice versa. They really are alike, thus when they're together, all things were easy coz they agreed to the same things. But that "love" doesn't push him to be a better version of himself. Same as Jo, she always sees Laurie as a dear friend whom she can run to when all else fails but never saw possibility in him as a romantic partner, except when she realized that Laurie may never be her friend again after turning him down. Jo only thought of this possibility because of her fear to lose her true friend. When you really love someone, you do not change for them, you're changing yourself to be a better suit for them. Laurie never tried to be better for Jo, he only wanted to play and be with her, but he manned up for Amy and learned to accept truths when she's with Amy. Amy may seem unlikable back in their childhood, but her feelings for Laurie cannot be degraded just because of their little interactions in the past. For me, Amy is such a powerful character in the novel and film. Her priorities in life may be too practical and too direct but her emotions are one of the most genuine things that made Laurie love her.
