No spoilers, for real/swear: Was never a fan of the noir genre but "Sugar" has helped me understand a bit better some of the reasons people are fans of certain aspects of that genre. Sugar does it better in the story telling and visuals. This current day version is better imho *not only* because it may appeal to present day sensibilities. It's simply more nuanced and crafted beautifully in every way: writing, cinematography, character development, etcetera. [But I loved the way they pieced in clips from old films, it is very clever/creative how they did it, and serves the show very well.] Obviously I haven't seen the finale yet, it airs tomorrow, but I don't think the "twist" (no spoilers, promise), this twist they referred to neither detracts nor enhances the noir identity and overriding theme. It's simply an interesting part of the narrative being told. I have been pleasantly surprised how much I have been enjoying this show. For many reasons.
