Out of alllll the kitchen nightmares episodes (not counting the new new ones) this is the ONLY episode where Gordon actually walks out and leaves the restaurant for good. There are other episodes where he walks out, but he eventually comes back to stay and help. This time he couldn't deal with them, and he managed to help a restaurant that had a whole food storage filled with roaches. This is also the only episode that starts with a service before Gordon even shows up, probably because they didn't a lot of footage since Gordon left after one day and not a week like he usually does.

Imo a lot of the successful restaurants from this show is because their problem is about the shitty locations, mismanagement, and the miscommunication between the owner and chef. Those are fixable in a short time with more creative ideas, talking things out, and Gordon teaching them about managing a restaurant. But this place, the main problem is their own personality, habits, and core morals. Those are *very* hard to fix even in normal circumstances. My guess is that Gordon knew that and decided not to help them, he isn't there to become a therapist 😭

@@mitsua707 majority of restaurants he visits during each season are closed now. Maybe 3 max survive more than a year after the he comes in because they go back to their old ways and tank money. This location was definitely because of the owners personalities and ego's, nobody can help someone who is not willing to actually change to make their situation better, so he decided to end it for that reason, you cant help people that don't want to be helped.

It depends on the restaurant I suppose. At nicer busy restaurants staff make really good money from tips, and it's a way to compensate for how busy you are and how well you can handle a lot of tables or tickets in the kitchen. At minimum you'll be paid minimum wage.

I worked at a cafe at the front taking orders, serving, and even washing dishes when there weren't enough staff and not once did I receive tips. they all went to the owner and when I asked about it he just tried to gaslight me. some people should never be able to own a business or be in charge of others.

​@@barbararab6390yeah, I think people who only consume a smaller amount and variety of gordons content don't get to pick up on how emotionally intelligent he actually is. he does yell and curse a lot (especially for entertainment purposes) but he does not actually escalate situations 90% of the time. his level may be at an 80, but he'll keep it there and he won't escalate the situation if someone else is getting out of hand. when people are particularly out of hand, like the one dude on hells kitchen who stepped up on him as if he wanted to fight, or the woman who tried to slap him on one of his other shows, he is remarkably calm. he may do things that are pretty confrontational and disrespectful on hells kitchen, but he will never push it past a certain point. he is pretty aware of others, especially if they're physically aggressive.
