This video is longer than what we like...BUT we wanted to keep all the truth, laugh, and honest first attempt at making this turkey. Hope you enjoy...here is Amy's recipe she 100% created...pelletsandpits.com/orange-glazed-smoked-turkey-with-orange-juice-brine/

I think this is one of the best video's you two have done. I really enjoy watching Neil try different techniques, and recipes but, when Amy comes out, it really is a treat for us, (the ones who are just learning to cook) to see what we will encounter as we try things for the first time. Thanks to the both of you for a wonderful channel. You make cooking look fun.

The struggle is real! Love it. I can’t say how many times I’ve watched something and said that’s easy I’ll do it then struggle for ever trying to make it work. You have to approach it like Amy, “I can do this” then smile and have fun with it. .. Thanks for adding reality to the process. Happy Thanksgiving kids … Cook on! 🦃

This is by far the best cooking video on KZbin! Seriously!. My wife and I always said we wish there were uncut videos of everyday people cooking because that's how we learn from each other's mistakes when it comes to cooking. For instance, the butter scene was hilarious because that is something I would have done! So it's great knowing there are other people out there who are not experts at cooking but enjoy doing it their own way, which is not always the most efficient or productive way! I would suggest to melt the butter and baste it like Neal stated. Baste it every 45 minutes or so. But yeah, best video ever and please, keep cooking and posting!!! You've earned another subscriber because you kept cooking real! I love it!! Happy Thanksgiving!!

Great job Amy! Roasting/smoking a turkey as your first serious cook is incredibly brave - especially with it being on video for all the world to see. That bird looks amazing! My only concern is that, heaven forbid, if anything happens to Neil, you and your kids will starve.😂😂😂Keep these videos coming.

Well done Amy 👍 , there is nothing you can't do if you apply yourself ! I learned early that if I was hungry I would have to learn to cook ! I love flavors so eating was a good catalyst for cooking , if you want something different you either pay a price for it or teach yourself what's going on . Good stuff indeed , God Bless .

I'm going to spatchcock and smoke a turkey for my family Thanksgiving this year, the first time I'm hosting. I'm trying to figure out when to start the bird. I heard 225 for 1 hour in smoke mode, then raising to 325 for 3 more hours, total of 4 hours. But what size was the turkey? Also, good job, Amy! You do fine in front of the camera. Good job showing what you're doing and explaining and being confident enough to share mistakes and show how to compensate for them and try something different.

21:28 that butter would have been better served rubbed under the skin. As soon as that butter melts it will take the seasoning with it to the bottom of the pan whether seasoned before or after rubbing butter on it. Rub butter under skin, season over the skin. Than later baste with butter and water from bottom of pan. Season has stuck by than and wont come off from basting. IMO... Happy holidays to you and your family. Stay safe
