Bob Newhart (Professor Proton) won his very first Emmy because of this episode. His very first Emmy in decades, because of The Big Bang Theory.

Bob Newhart, a great straight man delivers comedic gold. 😊 He had a sitcom in the '70s, The Bob Newhart Show, where he was a Psychiatrist. And then in the '80s there was Newhart, where he played the owner of a Bed and Breakfast....the running joke by the secondary cast was, "Hi I'm Larry. This is my brother Darryl and my other brother Darryl." 😂

And the final scene of the Newhart finale is one of the great moments in TV comedy. :)

I'm not as crazy as Sheldon is about closure, but not having it does really annoy me. Not being able to knock over those Dominos would have pushed my will-power to its limits.

Leonard was right about Buffy The Vampire Slayer, though. AMAZING SHOW. There is even an informal field of study known as "Buffy Studies" which is the study of the show and some of it's recurring themes. There have been multiple scholarly books and more than a few college level courses dedicated to the show.

Bob Newhart starred in 326 comedy episodes of "The Bob Newhart Show," and "Newhart" from 1972-1990. Meanwhile the science TV show seems to be a reference to "Mr. Wizard" TV show. (Bill Nye will be a guest star later.)

2:28 Good point! 2:58 Yeah, they say "When there's a will, there's a way" and Sheldon always has a strong will to do whatever he wants. He goes to lengths most people would never go to. It doesn't always work out, but this is why he accomplishes more in life than most people. Amy was trying to help Sheldon with those experiments. It just didn't work the way she expected. It's a shame no one ever told Professor Proton how much he meant to all those kids before this. He was made to feel bad for doing a VERY good thing. But convincing so many kids to get into scientists, he's probably more important than everyone who called him a joke. RIP Bob Newhart.

As much as I like Penny, Bernadette and I guess Amy I wish their characters were actually nerds like the guys. Not that any of the Male characters deserve girlfriends or wives but seeing them constantly make fun of them for liking nerdy things breaks my nerd heart. As a nerd Woman as myself it always made it hard to watch. Lucky for me my husband loves nerdy things like me too. He doesn't like Anime or Animated movies and shows as much as I do but he still enjoy watching them with me and doesn't question why I enjoy them. Always makes me wonder what the "normal boring people" find enjoyable to watch that isn't nerdy.

I’m sorry, but Bernadette was way out of line jumping Raj for not telling them someone found *his* dog. They didn’t bother to call him immediately after loosing her, which I would have done. If any of my friends found out I lost their dog and didn’t tell them, they’d never trust me again. The same if it were the other way around. I house sit for a friend who has a lot of animals, and if something bad ends up happening, I immediately call them and let them know. If you ask me, Raj had every right not tell them, and should have stood his ground, since they were clearly incompetent, they deserved to worry sick. And the fact that she slammed the laptop shut only proves that she only cares about getting the last word and has no actual argument to back her actions.

That was the point. She knew that she and Howard were in the wrong, so she jumped on Raj and piled on the guilt to save herself. That's why Howard said she'll be a great mom someday.
