Fun fact that I hope you will appreciate: Nick Lang, one of the main writers for Starkid, had a big hand in the whole Chorn ending thing, and he thought that it was actually really obvious that Chorn was an omnipotent alien and that all of the fans would see that ending coming from a mile away. In reality, almost every Starkid fan was confused and taken aback by that ending. To be honest, Firebringer, as both the show and the backstage stuff that has been released, has some of the biggest WTF moments in all of Starkid history. These include, but are not limited to: Chorn being an alien, and the holy Duck, and "Satan is a Real Man". Anyway, thank you so much for this mini-series that you are making, it is really refreshing to see all of these shows through the eyes of someone who is totally new to them. I totally recommend to watch either Trail to Oregon next for comedy or Starship for some top tier puppets.

Story time: Earlier this semester (February-March), my alma mater had an...issue...with ducks in the swimming pool. Nothing the maintenance people tried worked when attempting to get rid of them. There's a huge students-only (and alumni) meme group on FB, and it's run by absolute madlads. When polled about what they (the group admins) should do about the ducks, the overwhelming favorite was "buy 100 rubber ducks and dump them in the pool". When they did, it made such a splash that they made local news! I, of course, responded to any and all duck-related content with many variations of "duck is lord" and called the main instigator "Ducker" for weeks.

I honestly think it's one of the best shows when it comes to music and costuming. So much care and detail went into both of those aspects, and yet it gets so overlooked. I know most people speaking up for why Firebringer is underrated mention the music, but the costuming is also absolutely incredible. You can't look at Chorn, or even the little details like the hair clips shaped like bones, and tell me that's not the most detailed, beautiful, and unique costume design Starkid has done.

Hey! Another person happy to see some good comments on Firebringer (I adore it, even knowing it's not their best work). Puppets? Go for Starship. Great plot? Spies are Forever (Choreography also by Lauren Lopez btw). Funny af? Holy Musical B@man Personal suggestions. I'm not the biggest fan of Trail to Oregon, but it is pretty funny as well (my relationship with it is kinda like yours was with Firebringer).

Yes, Emberly is played by Rachael Soglin who was Jasmine/the princess in Twisted. She probably looks different here because I'm pretty sure she wore a wig in Twisted. If you like her here then you should definitely check out Trail to Oregon next, she's fantastic in it.

Please watch Starship next!!! It's one of the earlier ones and I think you'll enjoy the vibe. Joey Richter stars but Lauren and the girl who played Jemilla (Meredith) and the girl who played Kiery (Denise) all have prominent roles (and for those two it was their first Starkid show)

I didnt really pay attention the first time I watched it and I regret it so much because there is so much in subtext and undertones (curt and owen who?) And I researched some scenes and realised how much I missed (Doing this makes much more sense now)

I have no idea if someone's said this already, but once you make it through Starkid, you should watch "Spies Are Forever" by the Tin Can Bros!!! Joey Richter (who's in a ton of Starkid shows) is one of the "brothers" and its such a fun musical that gives off such a Starkid-adjacent vibe and some of the actors/actresses from Starkid are in tin can bros stuff and vice versa! It's one of my favorites and I cannot recommend it enough.

8:11 Because you said you really liked the characters/cast in Firebringer, I would suggest Starship next because it has quite a similar cast. (And you mentioned earlier that you liked their puppet work and Starship is puppets galore.)

So happy you said that about the female leads! This is their only show that heavily emphasizes the women unfortunately (all other shows have a male lead) but that + the music is why I like this show :)

You definitely should check out Trail to Oregon! It's probably my favorite out of all the Starkid shows. Also in case you wanted to Starkid did release the rights to some of their shows (this one included) so local theaters can perform them, which I think is super cool!! My highschool did this show and I was Emberly and it was an amazing and fun experience!

Also here’s a fun fact: Smelly-Balls and Jamila are married in really life aka Brian Holden and Meredith Stephen😁😁 And the guy who showed up and you didn’t know is the Pianist names Clark, you’ll see him in abunch in TTO!

YES Firebringer imo is very underrated and has some of the best musical moments from StarKid period (although a lot of the other aspects are definitely weaker haha). The weirdest part is just that canonically the girl saying "I don't wanna do the work today" is also Draco Malfoy haha. (And to respond to something you kinda mentioned, the two people that fell in love with the eating/painting are Jasmine and Ron from AVPM) I would personally recommend Trail to Oregon next... it's easily one of their most different performances but it's still very good and shows a whole different side of them than this haha. It also features (people that have played these roles from shows you have already seen): Jasmine/Emberly, Ron/Grunt, Draco/Sazzalil, Aladdin, Ginny/Schwoopsie, and a brand new one :)

I am loving this series so much, honestly the best thing that's come from this period! I would recommend watching TGWDLM and BF last as they are very different from the rest of Starkid, but still incredible and frankly my favorite shows! Love ya Amy!❤

If you liked the music, may i recommend checking out the band Jim and the Povolos. The songs in the show are written by Meredith Stepien and Mark Swiderski who also are the songwriters in Jim and the Povolos. It also has other Starkids in it ;-)
