i lost 3 very important women in my life due to this heartbreaking disease. my mom (passed at 79) passed away after 1 year of fighting. she lost the ability to eat, move, talk, and breath on her own. my sister (passed at 41) passed away after 4 horrible months of fighting. she was on a ventilator after just 3 weeks of being diagnosed. she had noticed symptoms and was starting to lose basic skills but never went to see a doctor until she couldn’t walk one day. she was diagnosed in the late stages and passed in less than a year. my wife (passed away 3 months ago, on my birthday at 40). my wife was on a ventilator for 3 days and had lost the ability to eat, talk, walk, and was having trouble breathing on her own. she decided after 3 days that she was just gonna live the time she had left. she passed after 4 weeks of not being on a ventilator. my daughter was diagnosed with als last year (at age 17) and i am her caregiver when i am home (i work at an office 5 days a week) and she has caregivers that come while i’m away. she needs 24/7 care and has lost the ability to do anything on her own. doctors say she has around 1-2 years (or even less) left. this is the worst disease you could ever be diagnosed with. i’m praying for everyone else who has had to go through this / had family go through this.

We will also pray for your daughter and you and all other people who have been diagnosed with ALS. We should also pray for the doctors and scientists who are trying to understand and treat this disease. Its is always good to share your pain with someone and you shared it here. Keep going

I'm very sorry. I know it runs in the family pretty heavily, so outside of the families where it runs through, it's especially rare. The odds are almost off the table that you married someone who would come down with it as well. I'm sorry my friend.

This sounds so extraordinary to have so many in your family affected. It makes think there's an environmental component here? Did you all live close to eachother? Did you live near risky areas cell phone towers, factory, farming, steel plants.im curious? Im so sorry your a strong person.
