People around Amy said that it was easier for her to communicate through music than otherwise. Her tremendous honesty in this song proves it. “It's not just my pride. It's just 'til these tears have dried”. I think this verse shows a lot of who Amy was as an artist and as a person. A powerful woman who had a lot to express because of her unique sensitivity. More than a singer, Amy was a storyteller, each song of Amy is a story and each one has come into my life in the darkest moments. Along with her I have learned to know myself and not feel alone in the process. Yes I've been black, but when I come back, you'll know, know, know.

The night before she died Amy said, "If I could give it all back, and walk down the street with no bother, I would." I think fame was a serious problem for her, it likely exacerbated her personal insecurities in a way she never learned to cope with. So talented, yet so humble, a rare combination in entertainment. Blake, in an interview about his relationship with Amy, described her as "one of the loneliest people he'd ever met." Perhaps that's part of why she took their breakups so hard, without him she literally had no one to hang out with for days or weeks at a time. Such a shame, she seemed like a genuinely loving and caring person. RIP, Amy you & your music are both so incredibly missed.

@Clayton Catlin if you watch the documentary you can clearly see her considering it, but her dad discouraged her from going (because he just wanted to continue exploiting his daughter’s talents) he brought up loads of things that she would miss, including a concert that she was contractually obliged to do (which she didn’t even want to do). People always said that the people she loved most didn’t love her in return. Her dad included. She turned to drugs and alcohol to ease the pain of the life she never wanted (her boyfriend was the one who turned her to drugs in the first place, which again shows how the people she loved were the worst for her). Sorry if this seems rude, I just wanted to add to your comment
@HeatherChandlerBQ3 жыл бұрын
Also, her dad was rarely around when she was growing up, and her mum never really told her off for anything, so she grew up never receiving backlash for her actions and doing what she wanted. Though you could argue her death was her own fault, you need to consider how she grew up and the people that surrounded and ‘supported’ her. Again not trying to be rude though.

It used to play often on the radio 9 years ago when I was still a kid. I had often been depressed at the time unlike (these days it just fluctuates), this song calmed my soul for that short bit, made me forget some of my troubles. When I learned that she died, I felt sad. I called her "Rehab Lady" since I didn't know her name that well back then. RIP to her soul... I hope no one truobles her

My sister died earlier this month from liver failure. She loved Amy Winehouse. It was never my thing, but now I get a lot of comfort from her music. Except this song. It just makes me so angry and sad that addiction destroys so many lives. If you need help, I pray you find it before it's too late. Your life has value, there are people who love you. Today, I saw the movie about Amy. And suddenly, every word, every line she sang hit me like a freight train. The pain, the booze, the loneliness-it was all there, right in her life. She didn't just write about it, she lived it, breathed it, poured it into every note. Her voice, man, it wasn't just singing, it was crying, laughing, screaming. She took all that hurt and made it something beautiful, something real.

And not just because we suffered so many of the same problems (BPD, anorexia, bulimia, alcoholism, drug addiction, depression) but also because WE ALL KNEW all the problems she had and collectively watched her decline for years and nobody did anything to help her. Happy 41st birthday to the beautiful Amy Jade Winehouse💗💜🎉🥳
@oscarhershkowitz7083 жыл бұрын
She was taken advantage of and was used by her husband and father for money making purposes. Thats why her father didn't want her to "waste" time going to rehab. He wanted her to do more shows. It's sad how such a great song can have such a dark reality that no one took seriously until she died.
@MRawash3 жыл бұрын
What are you talking about? Her dad was the one trying to put her in rehab (what the whole song is about), her producer (Mark Ronson) was the one that was complicit, though ultimately it was her choice.

In the amy winehouse documentary he said he didn't think she needed to go. So it certainly did seem like he was using her

@@supertiana1000 Here's the Mark Ronson quote from Wikipedia about how the song came to be: "...she hit, like, a certain low and her dad came over to try and talk some sense into her. And she was like, "He tried to make me go to rehab and I was like, 'Pfft, no no no.'" And the first thing I was like, "ding ding ding ding ding." Like, I mean I'm supposed to be like, "How was that for you?" and all I'm like is, "We've got to go back to the studio." Also, she straight up says it in the song: "I ain't got the time and if my daddy thinks I'm fine He's tried to make me go to rehab, but I won't go, go, go"

@@bluecherry9433 I suffer from anxiety and depression and they make me feel like the world would be better off without me. I know though that it's not true it's the anchor and depression talking. Anxiety is like constantly having a voice chasing you and making you worry about everything and it tells you your worst fears. Depression is is feeling a pain beyond sad mentally and physically and wanting someone to be there for you, but you have no motivation out desire to even move. Together they are pure hell. Hold your head up and believe in yourself you have to be there change you want to happen... Good luck
