The original stevie wonder song that this cover version "gangstas paradise" copies, actually sounds like a level in a sonic game, and one about time travel which would make it fit in with the game for the Sega CD, Sonic 3D. Pastime Paradise is the name of the original song that gangstas paradise stole. Loads of sonic levels take place in paradises. The alliteration makes it even more sonic-like. You can just imagine "Pastime Paradise Zone, Act 1" I wouldn't be surprised if the song was chosen for the movie for that specific reason
