I remember being fascinated by nuclear weapons when I was a kid. I had even written a little poem about this bomb. "On October the thirtieth, Year nineteen sixty one, Far away in the U.S.S.R., A nuclear test was done. What a glorious bomb they were testing! It was called AN-602. What a blast! What a big cloud of ashes and dust! I just can't describe that to you..." ☢️💥👍

I wish there were blast and pressure measurements taken from this shot. I’d be curious how far out the overpressures were from GZ. 2-3 PSI can destroy lightly reinforced structures. That would likely be 100’s KM from this blast. It’s almost incomprehensible since the shockwave circled the earth 3x, reportedly.

The Tsar-Bomb. The worlds most powerful nuclear weapon ever produced in history (even by todays standards). the weapon was so powerful that they cut its payload by half (100 to 50 Megatron) and still was the most powerful nuclear detonation in history (dwarfing the U.S. most powerful nuclear explosion Castle Bravo). Only one Tsar bomb (with full power) was made since the test (and is said to still exist today), and not long after its production was made obsolete by ICBMs.

One day mankind will be able to produce Antimatter and it will be used to create bombs many times more powerful than this one. 1336g of antimater would be enough to replicate this detonation. If we ever manage to produce large quantities of Antimatter it'll 1st of all be done in space and the antimater will also be stored in space because here you already got a vacuum.
