I remember riding the Motorboat Cruise (in the 80's), and like 3/4 of the way thru it, there was a sign w/Mickey saying, "1/2 way point"!:). My brother & I still joke about that, all the time. Not really missed, but Adventure Thru Inner Space, the People Mover, and even Mission to Mars are a completely different story!

The "not a duck" is a cormorant. Sometimes thought as a snake as it swims because its head and neck are the only thing seen above the water when it swims.

Much of the track is actually still there! One night while working in the Small World area (I've been working there for about two years now) after the park closed for the night, my lead showed me the still water with a flashlight, and the bottom of the water could be seen. Some time around Videopolis being removed and the Small World Promenade being build (I believe for the Light Magic parade), the ground area was expanded into the water. This was after the boats ceased operation. You actually showed the area I'm about to refer to in your video. There is one spot where two concrete "shorelines" curve inwards towards a convex brick wall. At the base of that wall, under the water, the track still exists, and goes directly into that wall! The track is incredibly hard to see during the day due to animal movement, but in the right light at night time, it can be seen quite clearly. Of course, the track itself is obviously unusable in that state, but it was very funny to see a winding track go directly into a brick wall.

I remember the only time I rode the motor boats in 88 when I went as a kid. It was the one ride in Disneyland I hated. When I was waiting to pull into the dock, the kids in the boat behind me kept kept hitting the gas in there boat and ramming into the back of mine, and laughing about it. For me this was the one ride I was glad they got rid of.

I rode it as a kid and called it Boat-opia. They should've totally named it that. Also I just learned that it's not called Autopia at Walt Disney World, what-why? I pondered that while I ate at Red Rocketts Pizza-Port, I mean Cosmic Ray's.

This was interesting. Didn't realize that was over there and never took a good look. Didn't know where the motorboat ride used to be located either. Though I had been to Disneyland in the 80's, I don't recall riding it.

I remember riding the motor boat cruise when I was very young with my Mom who did not realize the boat was on a track and tried to take the "wheel" from me when we were heading toward a rock. Thank you for bringing back some wonderful memories of Disneyland. I hope to one day run into at the Park. Have you ever filmed the Flag Retreat Ceremony? That is something I never miss when I am in Disneyland.

This little seating area is, hands down, the BEST place to nurse your baby (in warm weather; cold weather go to the nursing center). It's usually very quiet and out-of-the-way, and has beautiful scenery to contemplate while baby-bonding. Except when it was a smoking area, which bummed me out. ;)

Between the Midget Autopia and the expanded Tomorrowland Autopia, there was the Fantansyland Autopia. Its entrance still exists behind the Matterhorn and was one of the smoking areas last I knew. I agree. Strange that they built Splash Mountain and Indiana Jones around the same time, which are FANTASTIC rides and very well made, but also resorted to cheap tactics like plywood figurines for the motor boat cruise. The park was a dump 89-95 though, trash everywhere, understaffed etc. But luckily WDI got at least those two future-classics built in that time period! CA adventures is still about 75% awful imho though.

I remember riding that in the 80s, Funny, I remember gripping the wheel white-knuckled trying to avoid all the rocks. One thing thought, I'm pretty sure the tracks weren't metal but were molded concrete. When they redid the subs, they walled off and drained parts of the area. From the monorail you could clearly see a concrete channel that wove in and around the old path.
