Welcome to Satumi the Neet Season 4: The Yuru Saga
Neet Reviews are short review parodies in which I judge an entire anime based on one episode. Since you can't judge an anime by one episode.I don't actually review the anime at all instead I look into it's many themes that the anime has to offer even though it's not the what the original creator intended.

Don't feel bad because I would have done the same. I don't believe in altruism and I don't believe in being the sacrificial lamb. Everyone here who says they do are being sanctimonious and dishonest. There wasn't any evidence or proof that this choice resulted in deaths or that it was actually avoidable. I would have done the same if it meant saving that which I loved most.

**********SPOILERS*********** . . . . . . . I think part of the reason why this movie feels so lackluster compared to Your Name is because Your Name simply had a lot of elements simply fall into place. Mitsuha is part of a family that oversees the local god, which is how we get a bunch of the lore in Your Name. Mitsuha's grandmother tells us about musubi, the meaning of threads connecting each other, why Mitsuha is experiencing body switching etc. Weathering with You doesn't have this. The main characters have to actively go out of their way to find out what Sunshine girls are, which drags the movie on longer than it should have stayed. Moreover, shinkai was very forward with his foreshadowing in this movie, whereas in Your Name, a lot of the elements that he was hinting towards are only obvious upon rewatch, which makes for a more satisfying film. Another problem I had with Weathering with You is that the character relationship between our two MC's don't feel like they're between lovers, it feels like they're between friends. Hodoka proposed a business deal to Hina, and she took him up on it. I'm not saying that love can't develop between them, it just feels unnatural. When was the point where they started loving one another? I can't tell. It just seems to me like they start the business, and then they fall in love because the plot demands it. I guess if I really had to pick, it would be the night of the fireworks? And I guess if I had to pick a starting point, it would be when they saved each other? But people who go through those sort of things (a cashier being generous, a guy saving a girl from prostitution) don't feel like the type to become lovers. Nevermind objective reasoning, it just doesn't feel right. Your Name actually did this fairly organically in that it developed its main characters through the dream montage. You can tell they are in love with each other when they both say "I'm single because I want to be." Not to mention the fact that their "conversations" feel so organic. It flows incredibly beautifully, and after seeing Taki's crusade to find and save Mitsuha, you can't help but know deep down that they're in love. Of course, Hodoka also had a similar experience, but his just feels more like "I'm saving this girl because the plot demands it" rather than "I'm saving her because I love her." Interpret it as you will, that's just the feeling I got when I watched the film. With all this being said, I still thoroughly enjoyed the film. Once again, Radwimps managed to create a fire soundtrack that intertwines seamlessly (like a thread hahaha) with Shinkai's film. Once again, Shinkai managed to create artwork that rivals the beauty of kyoani's work. I like the film, but I can't say I love it. 8/10. The extra point from me is simply my eyes and ears were immensely satisfied after watching the film

I totally get why you dislike the ending. But... (spoilers). For me, the opening scene had a problem as well. I felt like the narration gave too much info and distracted from the very competent visual storytelling. I felt like Hodoka exclaiming what happened at the end towards the beginning makes some kind of sense. But I also felt like the film would have been vastly improved by burying the lead a bit more and showing more than telling. That said the rest of the film worked out rather well. I also feel like the character work was incredible. I think the standouts are Suga and Nagi personally. And yeah I guess that means that I think Hina and Hodoka needed a bit more work. I really liked your take on the gun. Personally, I remember thinking: “well where the heck is this going?” And seeing it reincorporated at the end was quite satisfying given I felt like it was written off. I do somewhat agree that him finding it was a bit convenient. But that said, it also came at a time when the chaos of Tokyo was being established. “Tokyo is scary.” And I think it seemed appropriate that it happened at random. Idk. As for the ending I was totally behind his decision. I get that it was wrong, technically. That said, I remember feeling like “Your Name” lacked some cost to how it was resolved. Like, they forget about what happened but that’s it. Everything else was fixed. In Weathering With You there’s a really clear cost to the whole thing. As for what it means. It made me think a lot about how people keep saying “the best way to fight climate change is to not have kids.” And I hate that tbh. I understand the world is fucked if things keep going the way they are going. But that said, scientists, teachers, and scholars are telling kids (who all have the same instincts and needs for love and family) “hey, don’t be happy. Because the world is gonna die.” Personally, I think it’s really awful to tell people to sacrifice their happiness on an uncertain future. And in the film they do point out how people are starting to figure out ways to adapt to the weather. Though, naturally, a lot of stuff is lost. People probably died. That said, and this goes back to what you said about worldview. I think his decision was wise given what was going on. But hey that’s just a theory. A *NERD* THEORY! Thanks for reading.

I think the movie also wants to express what a person can do for love, not caring about the world just to see the person you love once again.Since the world has been cruel to Hodaka, he can also be cruel to the world. And I think nobody died from tokyo getting flooded, since the residence have time to evacuate Tokyo, from a logical standpoint. So i'm satisfied with the ending

Honestly, i don't like the flow of the story since it is boring but i just love the message of the movie: it makes us realize that we should not always shoulder the problem of the world, sometimes, we need to think of our self which is to choose what makes us happy even if others call it selfishness.

I didn’t want to point this out, but since this film apparently takes place in the your name universe, it especially doesn’t make any since as the epilogue of that movie didn’t mention these events at all, nor was it raining even though it apparently never stopped.

SPOILERS . . . . . . . . . . 6:48 if someone died because of that, its because of their own stupidity. The flooding happened over time, not in 5 seconds. If it happened that fast, then the city would've been completely gone in the epilouge. There wouldve been EXTENSIVE warnings to evacuate districts in japan. If they died, that's because they chose to. By not evacuating.

spoiler thought about the ending . . . . . it's justifiable for anyone put in those shoes that if you had the opportunity to take someone you really love back you wouldn't think twice about it. and you can see how even people like kei understood and fought for him because maybe he was thinking what if it was him and he had the chance to bring back his wife . either way humanity still seemed to manage in the end and our protagonists got what they were fighting for.

the ending is selfish... but think it this way.. spoiler alert spoiler alert spoiler alert if u put ur self in hodaka's position.. the world treat u badly, u can't even really enjoy ur life.. but when u finally did... when u starting to enjoy ur life... when u finally love someone... all of that taken from u.. just for the world... the same world that treat u badly stay.. will u do it?? will u accept that?? hodaka maybe naive, and dumb.. but let's just face it.. it's a hard decision. idk about u, but i enjoyed the ending pretty well.. cuz it's show the decision that me.. and most people choose..the choice to a happy life

Well Shinkai isn’t portraying a world where Climate Change can be fixed. He’s portraying a world where it’s already happened and because of it children have to suffer in not only bad climate but from the chaotic crime ridden culture that stems from it. All the kids in the film make horrible decisions and Hodaka could only live a decent life because of the kindness of one adult. So I believe Shinkai is suggesting that if the adults don’t get there shit together to properly guide the next generation. Then those lost kids that are neglected will continue to suffer and ultimately make the same mistakes.

You can take a climate message from the movie, but at least according to the director, he explicitly didn't put anything about climate change or anything political about it in the movie. If you think about it, it wouldn't make sense for a climate change movie to say that Tokyo being flooded was natural, therefore it's good now. The character was just commenting on the events of the "movie." His interview went into detail how it's important we do something about the environment, but said he made the movie for entertainment purposes only.

You misunderstood. It is not selfish not to let reason get in the way of love. Also, the notion that killing one to save many is what evil ppl say to justify evil behavior. Sacrifincing babies to for better weather or calming volcano's, better convienat life, etc, were the ideas of evil men in the past and present. And do not bring Jesus into this, who is God who sacrificed himself to save sinners, who has the power of resurrection. I leave you with a Bible verse. "Do not be wise in your own eyes, fear the Lord (God) and shun evil."
