Before Disney World opened in 1971, Disneyland in California was the largest and most popular Theme Park in the world. People of all ages throughout the world dreamt of visiting Disneyland and experiencing what Walt Disney had created. Disneyland was one of a kind. They kept adding new attractions every year.

And of course, it also had the magic of being near Los Angeles, and just as important, Hollywood, which was another reason why it was able to draw some of the heavy hitters of the entertainment industry in the 50s, 60, and 70s. The episode "Disneyland after Dark", done in 1962, is a perfect illustration of that. Those entertainment icons also added luster to Disneyland. Disneyland also drew world leaders back then, which added global prestige to it.

"In Tomorrowland, we'll see the 21st century in action." When the park opened in 1955, they said Tomorrowland was set in 1986. So I guess in the subsequent three years, they decided that was too soon?

The opening sequence with Walt and Tink was recreated in _Saving Mr. Banks,_ with Tom Hanks as Walt and Mark Henn (Ariel in _Little Mermaid,_ Belle in _Beauty and the Beast,_ Jasmine in _Aladdin,_ Young Simba in _Lion King_ and the title character in _Mulan)_ animating Tink.

The famous magic phrase "Shimbaree, Shimbarah" first appeared in this episode, at the beginning. In Three Wishes, the episode is referenced. Princess Celestia: Now, how about we say an old magic phrase that Mr. Walt Disney taught us? Twilight Sparkle: Oh, I remember now. Tinkerbell says it to take everyone to Disneyland. Princess Celestia: And we can do the same to go anywhere we want to! Come on everypony! Say the magic words with me! Princess Celestia, Mane Six, and Spike: Shimbaree, Shimbarah, Shimbaree, Shimbarah!

Nowadays, there are 5 lands: the latest addition being Mickey's Toontown located behind the Sleeping Beauty castle - assuming you're going towards the castle past Main Street USA. (Though with "Star Wars Land" waiting in the wings, however I'm not sure whether or not if it'll be simply a larger part/section of Tomorrowland or be it's own "land" in the Magic Kingdom).

it would be interesting to make a story of the animatronics characters come to life and concious in disneyland... and how they learn about who they are and plan their escape to the unknown world outside of disneyland..

perhaps we learn that the anamatronics charctors are really humans that have been born in an underground imagineers laboratory. And perhaps one rough Imagineer has a secret project to turn humans into anamtronics charactors by injecting them with a special secret formula.. it not only turns a human into an animatronic charactor.. it keeps them alive forever.....

So much fun to see how things were...can you imagine taking home fish from Disneyland? I don't think I knew about the Mini Autopia and the Jungle Cruise sure has changed in its approach, although I did know the original spiel was mostly serious. Most us would be bored with the offerings from 55 years ago.

Instead of AstroJets and the safe Autopia in the 21st century, Tomorrowland should have had adults stuck in traffic and texting, and kids walking around with their heads down, unable to look up from their mobile devices.

Well, there are some things that even Disney couldn't have thought of when it came to the future, and certainly communication technology falls into that category. Traffic is something that was brought up in the episode "Magic Highway U.S.A.", though since that was made in 1958, it's doubtful they could have seen as far ahead as the mid 20-teens (55 years ahead), though they did forecast the problems of volumes of traffic as far ahead as 1975 in that program.
