An Afternoon In Herne Bay Vlog 1st August 2020

Join me in this very short “Coastal Crazy” vlog as we visit Herne Bay in Kent, England for the first time
The reason for us going is to visit new places and to see what attractions they have on offer, but also we went to see the Café that was used in the recent ITV comedy sitcom Kate & Koji which is actually a traditional Pie and Mash shop and it was very nice
I love to visit new places and Herne Bay was lovely, it’s not the biggest of places but it did have a Pier with some shops and children’s rides and also some slot machine arcades
Vlog was filmed in HD 1080p 60fps using a GoPro Hero 6 Black with official accessories

Herne Bay is a nice little seaside town. The pier used to have a sports centre and roller skating rink at the end. There is lots of history linked to Herne Bay! Glad you enjoyed your visit!

I live like 15 minutes (walk) away from herne bay and it’s the best when it’s hot and everything is open the arcades down the far end towards Hampton are the best xx

The pier was damaged by fire by one of the owners in an insurance scam, then another section caught fire 2 years later caused by a lightning strike. Then a 3rd section was removed during the First World War. We're are trying to get the Pier rebuilt, but the Council isn't that interested. They mainly spend all their money on Canterbury projects. The last thing I heard was a company in London trying to get interest in getting it rebuilt as they were hoping to do paddle steamer day trips to and from London, which sounds amazing.

The pier used to lead out to that part further out which I believe was was a dance ball room which I could be wrong was distroid in a fire and which is also believed to be haunted

Also I don’t if google told you but you used to be able to walk all the way to the end of the pier before it was destroyed and get a boat and it would take you out to sea and drop you back off, and there also used to be a cafè/ restaurant at the end as well so Yh xx

Herne bay pier was destroyed by the army in the Second World War to stop German forces from using it to land they boats in the case of in invasion. Before that it was second longest pleasure pier in the country behind Southend pier. I Remember there being a roller rink on the pier back in the 80s and 90s and it was renovated about 10 years ago.

Djp 2578 I’ve just read on Wikipedia that the pier was damaged by a storm in 1978

Coaster Crazy yes that’s correct and it destroyed the walk ways that were installed as a temporary Measure after the middle section was blown up under orders from the uk government the government had planed to pay for it to be rebuilt properly after the war but it was never completed. I remember being told all about it as a kid by my grandparents when they took me and my brothers to the roller rink that used to be on the pier.
