Great video guys, you spent some time with a living legend and this is something you'll have forever. What a genuine guy who seemed to enjoy telling you his story just as much as you enjoyed listening.

I'm pretty sure that ZZ430 was a crate motor...sounded healthy. 20 years ago, I got a ride in #007 with his 14:1 CR Donovan Sprint Car motor with DCOE side-draft Webers...twisted 8000. There are very few rides like the ones he delivers in those beasts. I consider myself very, VERY lucky to have gotten one of his two lightweight Lister racecars, #007...took me 3 pitchers of beer to talk him out of it, though! ;-) He wasn't gonna let it go to just anyone unless he knew it was gonna be raced. Today, #007 has a 400 cu in Donovan with SDS programmable EFI system...it's low compression, though. We can only run ~10:1 on the street out here in CA...junk fuel, only 91 octane. It's a One Lap car, but it has an EMCO close-ratio dog box now. facebook.com/profile.php?id=100057508387227

Beck and Winfield are just the greatest...legendary builders,without the bullsh1t.( And both down to earth and really friendly guys..,that is also important in my book. Because we dont need more a-holes in this world.Plenty of those around,right?😁

Genuine, genuine individual. Not too many of those left. Proven, successful engineer. We have enough pretend people.

Great content, Chuck is a really cool guy. I met him and his son at Road Atlanta. This video is great but sometimes the camera is so unstable it is hard to watch.

I never get tired of watching Chuck's interviews and shop videos. He's the ONLY ~85 year old gear-head I know of that will give you a couple of hundred yards of black stripes & tire smoke!! The closest I can think of is my dad... he's 98 years old and still drives his old John Deere 2020. He doesn't get up and down as quickly as he once did but he'll still take it around the field. All I can says is, "Chuck is an inspiration to a lot of us old guys." 👍

Can anyone tell me what exactly Chuck was going on about insofar as KIA was concerned. Is he using KIA engines?
@DepreciationNation3 жыл бұрын
His 356 Replicas run Kia Soul motors as they’ve proven to be quite reliable. Initially, we were a bit shocked. Then, he fired up the car. That car sounded period correct which blew us away.

@@DepreciationNation gotcha, I love it. Man, if I didn't own a business and have a couple kids(i.e. was in my 20s or 30s), I would move heaven and earth to apprentice with Chuck

In all honesty, Chuck was one of our childhood heroes. The SHOgun is what I noticed. Not native to this area, you can imagine how starstruck we were bumping into him the first time. To be permitted to film at his shop was a privilege of great magnitude. We’ve also filmed with one of his 550 Spyders which was another great privilege. Check it out on our channel if you’ve not seen it.

@@DepreciationNation I fell in love with Beck 550s when they were featured in European Car magazine in the late 80s. These days the 904 or his coupe are killing me My hero as well, those old school racing and car guys are like nothing else. Subscribed

@@josephhertzberg2734 we are planning to film his 904 next. It’ll be a minute as we are attempting to arrange an epic location for the shoot. Keep your eyes open...
