⁠@@dracodracarys2339More then likely, crocodilians loose their teeth regularly and those teeth continue to grow back their entire lives (which when considering they can live 70-100 years or even longer, thats a lotta teeth!). I don’t know if prehistoric animals would have had that same adaption 🧐 as far as I’m aware we also aren’t sure if baryonyx, suchomimus and spinosaurus were at any point related to crocodilians of the time (sarcosuchus, deinosuchus, kaprosuchus ect) they could have evolved from a common ancestor at some point perhaps but given time it could be possible if unlikely (four legged to two legs, maybe four with spino, would take a long time like humans for example, also take into account the size difference between both) but even then generally most predators do have teeth that regrow especially lone hunters as loosing too many teeth or all of them is a death sentence. Taking into account that baryonyx was a piscivore (fish eater) perhaps its teeth wouldn’t regrow? As I’d imagine catching and eating fish wouldn’t damage teeth so it’d probably be a result of a conflict between predators or a freak accident of some kind like a natural disaster. That or perhaps the skull was damaged when Buck took the tooth so another just didn’t grow back? Sorry for the text block 😂 I just really like my prehistoric flora and fauna!

I love the fact how the filmmakers originally designed Rudy as a Spinosaurus, but decided to change him to an oversized Baryonyx, similar to the original theropod that became the Spinosaurus in Jurassic Park 3, to avoid controversy within the Rex and Spino fans. And what makes Rudy my favorite Ice Age villain and even scary in my opinion is that, in-theory, he’s an invasive species from another cavern ecosystem where he and his species had natural predators until he somehow entered this cavern where everything is smaller than him.

Rudy is without a doubt the best Baryonyx in all of media, despite being triple the size of his paleo accurate counterpart. If Ice Age 3 wasn’t a kid’s movie then I wouldn’t want to imagine what kind of Carnage he could do.

I remember watching this movie over and over as a kid (when you are too small for Jurassic Park, gotta find some dino media, somehow) and loving Rudy to bits. I thought he was so cool and terrifying. Though I have to say, the scene where Rudy tells the talr about their first meeting, while being badass, is absolute nightmare fuel.

The 11 tonnes mammoth looked so small in front of him. I am pretty sure he is at least 150 feet long. Rudy has the toughness of like 1998 Zilla. He survived a fall of thousands of feet without a scratch and broke ground with mere tail smack. And he is too agile for that huge size. Can't imagine how deadly of a monster he would be in 18+ movie. And Momma T rex is the one that actually looks like 100 feet and not 80 feet as said. Her intelligence too is high for perfectly pushing away Rudy in such a way that his claws and mouth wouldn't reach her.

Rudy is one of my all-time dino icons for this exact reason. As i kid it was because he was a baryonyx and i didn't know what he was (i even refered to him as a "crocodile-T-rex) but as a late teen/early adult, it is simply the concept of him

I think my horror hyperfixation can be traced back all the way to when I was a kid watching that flashback scene with Buck and Rudy. The dark and stormy environment, the small size of Buck compared to the absolute titan of a dinosaur that Rudy is, the way Rudy glides along the clouds like a crocodile, and even the way he literally tears the forest down as he’s chasing Buck. Most were terrified as kids, but I just couldn’t stop replaying it on my DVD player. I was just in awe of how massive this thing was and how nature itself was merely an obstacle for him. I was scared, but I was too awestruck to look away.
