UConn had their walk-ons playing in the last minute of every 2023 and 2024 NCAA Tournament game. Think about that! The domination is unreal!

Great stat on Tristen Newton… he’s the reason UConn was able to stave off SDSU coming back last year. Dude is a first team all-American, final four MOP and probably still doesn’t get the coverage he deserves. Thank you for mentioning that stat!

Best 5 Teams of all time: 1) UConn - 6 Titles since field expanded to 64 teams, best 30 year run in NCAA History 2) Duke - 5 titles since field expanded 3) UNC - 4 Titles since field expanded, 5 since 1960 4) Kentucky - 3 Titles since field expanded, 4 titles since 1960 5) UCLA - 1 Title since field expanded, dominant run from 1964-1975

UConn fan here, but UCLA would go seasons between losses and they just destroyed everybody for a decade. A lot of UConn’s playing style was practiced by Wooden back then, namely the pressing defense, etc. UConn is top three, but UCLA from 1964-75 is still number one.
@jasonkushner3318
@jasonkushner3318 9 ай бұрын
@@MMAALL it was a 16 team tournament they only had to win 3 games! It’s exponentially harder to win 6. Factor in the growth of game and smaller skill gaps between top and middle tier teams it’s barely even the same sport/conversation. Our 6 since the expansion to 32 in 1975 and expansion to 64 teams in 1985 blows what UCLA did out of the water

Sorry, UConn is a great program that is on a great run but they are not mid-1960s through the early 1970s UCLA. Not even close to Wooden's championship run. In fairness, no one is. The five best teams ever in the NCAA might be five of the UCLA teams from Kareem and Walton. You are probably not old enough to remember just how totally dominant those teams were first hand.
@jasonkushner3318
@jasonkushner3318 9 ай бұрын
@@colpul2103 they played in a 16 person tournament and had to win 3 games. Exponentially more difficult to win 6 games in today’s game with way more athleticism and skill spread more evenly across the board. No doubt those 3 tournament win UCLA Teams were dominant but it’s apples to oranges
@colpul2103

@@jasonkushner3318 So why are they even on your list if 'before X year it doesn't count'? You could have made the tourney 128 teams and UCLA would still have 10 championships in 12 years. Sorry but you wonder if UConn will win this March; UCLA there was no wonder: death, taxes, and a UCLA championship. If you want to argue UConn women are as dominant as Wooden UCLA OK, that's a debate. They are the ones who broke UCLA records. They are the ones who had runs where that from November the only question what who was going to lose to the Lady Huskies in the finals. Huskey men are the second best basketball program on campus. Don't get me wrong: UConn is the top program in the Nation right now and has been the best of 21st century. You just overstate them and the their place in history. That's fine, this is subjective. I'm old so actually grew up with UCLA and the hate for them in the PAC10 (Wash. St grad). Bruins were in town there was no hope; didn't matter if you were #2 in the nation stacked with talent you stood no more chance than the local high school team of beating UCLA. Now if you mean pure best team and not run I don't think any of the UConn men's teams are relatively even in the top five. '76 Indiana was probably the best college team, Walton's '72 UCLA record dominant squad, or any one of the three they'd have in the top 10. Heck even if you said only the last 20 years '12 Kentucky was better than any of the UConn championship teams both in stat lines and eye test.

Dan Hurley coached the same way when he was at Rhode Island. The only real difference is that the name UConn brings in a higher caliber of recruit than URI. As for the AAC, those AAC teams that jumped to the Big 12 ain't a bunch of slouches either.

Excuse you, I was thinking it all those times. I knew last year's Huskies were going to win the national championship early in the season when they thumped #1 Alabama by 20. Then I knew they would win this year's national championship immediately after last year's championship because I saw who was returning. Also I got news for everyone, THEY AREN'T DONE YET. They have enough returning to do it again. Might not be as dominant but they will shock some people next year.

2023 the big 3 were Jackson, Hawkins and Sanogo. 2024 it was Spencer, Newton and Clingan. Will 2025 have a great trio? Could it be Karaban, Muhaney and Johnson? Reed? Stewart? Ball? McNeely? Its going to be wild if they complete the 3 peat.

The funny thing about 2023 is people asked who they beat well heres a little fact people dont mention. The #1 overall seed going into the tournament was Alabama. Uconn played Alabama earlier in the season and beat them by 15 points and the game wasnt even that close with Uconn leading by as much as 25 points.

Lifelong UConn fan here, it’s Ben clear the last 2 seasons UConn goes off in the second half, and obviously the depth on the bench is critical, but I really think UConn is the much greater conditioned team in a lot of these games, they simply work harder and is in better shape, I know this sounds so simple, but I watch every game so closely and their flying around like hornets, and the other teams many times in the second half look sluggish
