Logan is where a Marvel movie becomes a "film" in my opinion. This movie is insane and was so hype when it came out. Would recommend watching the original trailer of the movie thats to the song "Hurt" by Johnny Cash. That trailer dropped out of no where and was so hype

It’s alluded to multiple times in this movie, but not so fun fact - the Westchester incident was one of Charles first MASSIVE telepathic seizures, and it not only severely injured 600+ people, it also caused the deaths of multiple X-Men as well as the destruction of Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters. This is what really caused the government to turn/give up on not only Xavier, but finally mutants in general, deeming them a “threat to society”.
@Mrryn
@Mrryn 28 күн бұрын
Which is heartbreaking considering Charles's efforts were one of the few things keeping things civil and even pushing towards progress for mutant. It's like if Martin Luther King accidentally caused a mass murder in the middle of the civil rights movements and doomed race relations forever.

Now after watching DP3, knowing Hugh played Wolverine again, his death scene still hits hard. But man, at the time.... in the theater, knowing this was Hugh's last time playing the character, thinking we'd never see him as wolverine again. Dude the theater cried a river. Not a single dry eye, it was so sad. The character died, but we the audience felt like someone we've loved for 20ish years died. It was heartbreaking to watch.

A quote from the Director from Variety, about multi-movie franchises: "It’s the enemy of storytelling. The death of storytelling. It’s more interesting to people the way the Legos connect than the way the story works in front of us. For me, the goal becomes, always, ‘What is unique about this film, and these characters?' Not making you think about some other movie or some Easter egg or something else, which is all an intellectual act, not an emotional act. You want the movie to work on an emotional level.”
@piusdoe8984
@piusdoe8984 Ай бұрын
Preachy dumb quote tbh. If it's a sequel it can't have emotion? Lmao this is a sequel. You shouldn't think of other movie? While this movie makes so many references and is built on Hugh and Charles previous movies. Logan,Xmen 2 and days of future past are beloved sequels. Toys story 3. Winter soldier. Writing is what matters? Not if it's a sequel
@stonewall1485

@vGody
@vGody Ай бұрын
@@piusdoe8984 Don't think you understood what he was saying. He was talking about how movies (mainly marvel/superhero movies) today often struggle to stand on their own two feet. They rely on references to other shows or movies and nostalgia, which is cool if you're in the loop and watching it for the first time but once that wonder wears off you realize the movie itself has little substance. While I agree it is a little preachy, because movies like Deadpool & Wolverine prove it can be done, there are other movies like Spiderman No Way Home which rely purely on nostalgia and references. If you didn't watch the previous spiderman movies with the other actors, that movie doesn't work that well at all. That Director is trying to convey their feelings that they prefer movies to hit home because of the quality of their story rather than because they referenced and had little easter eggs about the Cinematic Universe. References were revolutionary at the time, which is why everyone loved them, but now it's overdone and a lot of stories have suffered because of it.

Which is why I cannot stand the sight of these "video essays" or someone on Reddit typing up 15 paragraphs worth of what they think is proof that only they are capable of comprehending the storyline of a show, a video game, a movie, etc. Or you'll see the evident pretention of a writer who makes his stuff as obscure as possible for some niche, hyper-intellectual audience. That's the issue behind post-Modern entertainment. When it's corporate "art", it's arrogance to the point that you think you need someone special to understand anything. But when it's effective on an emotional level, you get universal aspects that we can all understand. Regret, happiness, depression, etc. from experiences like loss or reprieve from punishment is a universal comprehension and doesn't require anything special.

I haven't seen this movie in a while and I knew it was gonna make me cry again, which it did. I appreciate Carter staying in the moment when Logan died, since everyone else broke out in laughter after Cannon did. Cannon apologized for that in the discussion, so it is what it is. I really hope most of the upcoming reactions won't have sound issues.

Logan is a masterpiece. This movie is easily the best Fox Marvel movie. A few things that bother me though. In the comics adamantium doesn't pierce or even damage adamantium. It would just bounce right off him. So the idea of suicide by adamantium bullet and in fact them blowing X24's head off is just bad. The adamantium poisoning is another thing that they too far too far in the movies. In the comics he is fine. Now it is hinted at that transgen has been putting the mutant cure into the food supply, so that weakening his healing factor so far that it can't counter the adamantium poisoning is a good idea, but I really wish they made that more obvious in the movie. Spoilers for Deadpool & Wolverine: The fact that we see that Logan not have adamantium poisoning and looked confused about hearing that this Logan died just strengthens the theory that it was the mutant cure that made that happen.

41:45 _“What’s at the border? Isn’t it under American jurisdiction?”_ What? No, it’s *Canada.* It’s a whole other country past North Dakota. X-Men was originally a metaphor for African-Americans, and slaves famously fled north into Canada to freedom. This was referred to as the Underground Railroad, and that’s what this is referencing. As respectfully as possible, you guys do know about Canada, right? Do you know American geography? Both Wolverine and Deadpool are Canadians.
@TukaihaHithlec
@TukaihaHithlec Ай бұрын
So based on your post-watch discussion, there was at least a realization that they were heading to Canada. Granted it doesn’t happen so much anymore, but there were periods in the past where people made mad dashes to America’s northern border and Canadian armed forces were prepared to defend them from pursuing American armed forces as soon as they reached them.

They were asking what was so special that the border would stop Transigen or whatever. They were wondering if it was just because of the jurisdiction ending at the border, or for some other reason. They’re well aware that Canada is north of the U.S.

Can't remember if it comes up in the movie but to the comment about Laura not being able to grow due to an adamantium skeleton around 14:15-14-:20 ish: only her claws are adamantium coated, and I think the same is true for X24 they basically surgically removed her claws, dipped them in adamantium, and then re implanted them, its likely scientists later found out about adamantium poisoning, or just didnt wanna decrease the efficiency of her healing factor
