An Amazing PAINT BOOTH for painting your Experimental Aircraft

Pretty slick solution. I saw where a builder put a pvc frame inside the inflatable in case of power issue or blower fault and also to leave inflatable basically standing for more painting later. I would hope electrical equipment inside booth is explosion proof if solvent based coatings are used. Thanks for the video John!

Nice but not cheap, I built a frame out of 3/4" pvc pipe and covered it with a clear plastic. Used duct tape on the joints so I could take it apart for storage when not in use.

I built my own with 2x2s and 6 mil plastic as I wanted a downdraft design so I made a raise floor and used the space between the joists as an air plenum to draw air down through slots in the floor sheathing. However, it is not portable and thus takes up space in my shop until the plane is done. This would be a nice solution for someone who is space limited. The main risk is losing power when your airplane parts are wet. Having the booth collapse on your freshly painted parts would be a real bummer.

Available in different sizes for different prices. This looks about like the 26'x13'x10', so about $800. Maybe something an EAA chapter could buy and then rent out to its members for a small fee.

Interesting but not sure what was the purpose of the inflated booth. You still blew unfiltered air inside, took the parts outside to dry and blocked out the good light. Was it just to catch overspray? I'm stating to think how to paint and came across those bouncy castles but not sure what i'm getting from using one. Wonder if a couple of tarps wouldn't get me the same.

Can the fan be reversed to suck the air out of the booth to collapse it into a tighter package?

The only thing that I dont like is that it must run nonstop, if the fuse broke, you have big problem.

It's why I quite general aviation - I wanted nothing to do with covering a plane. Or doping and painting it. That's a whole rabbit hole of work I don't want to go down, esp. all that gluing and stitching and noxious chemicals. Lucky for me, quadcopters turned out to be way more fun.

The problem with these booths you cant use then outdoors in hot weather... your paint booth temperature will be to hot... if it rains they are not water proof... if it poors the water will collapse the booth from heavy rain pooling on roof. Zipper on large door is very cheep and breaks after a few uses. Ventalation is not the best. Power outage is big concern issue during painting and drying
