I am an American visiting London UK. In this video I check out the beautiful Regent Street and discuss some cultural differences and similarities I notice. Thanks for stopping by and taking a look.

Hi just found your channel. I had to laugh when you were talking about small talk etc etc. you need to come up north! We are definitely friendlier! I can say that as I’ve lived in various places down south & worked in London. Ad well as lived & worked abroad. Also I’m a big traveller. Been to many places around the world but not north or South America.. The further north you come the friendlier I think we Brits are! Southerners are more reserved I find. I’ve just come back from visiting my brother who lives in Berkshire ( where I also lived) a village called Thatcham just outside of Newbury. Even there most people are pretty reserved. I’m a scouser back in Liverpool . Come up north. Liverpool Manchester etc you will have the best time plus have lots of friendly chats as people are super friendly. Xx

Thank you for your input! I heard that about the north as well. I will have to check it out sometime. Cheers!

You yourself said that ‘friendliness’ is sometimes fake. I much prefer the British language reserve to a fake interest in ‘how I am’ from a complete stranger who frankly doesn’t care how I am! It’s simply an empty question!!

London is just a large international city. It is different to the rest of the UK. In the 2022 census 40.6% of the population were born outside the UK. London is the third most visited city worldwide with 19.2 million overseas visitors in 2023. Much of the centre of the now caters to those tourists giving a somewhat fake British experience. For ecsmple while there are many excellent restaurants and eateries you can also find many bad and mediocre ones selling what they report to be "traditional British Food"

Welcome back, Mike. I think that if you go to our smaller towns and villages, any small talk will be welcomed. You seem to have been here for some time now. Why don't you do an introductory video as you walk around, giving some history about yourself? While you are in London, go check out The Olde Cheshire Cheese Pub. It is on a side turning off Fleet Street. It was a favourite of Charles Dickens and one of London's oldest. London in general is a reasonably safe city but you are correct. Scooter riders will snatch phones and we have a lot of Romanian pick pickpockets and spot the ball scammers, particularly around Westminster Bridge. Gang members will be placed to win and the tourist fleeced.

Thank you, Ron for your input! Video around Westminster Bridge area is coming up soon as well. Cheers!

The further you move out of London and the south east of England the friendlier the people become. Londoners are well known for being unfriendly. Check out a post on here .... The mash report northerner.

Don’t forget that the UK was the birthplace of capitalism
