我有看過住家附近的英語教室是請黑人老師,所以在我的認知裡,台灣不是只有請白人老師。

A strange admiration towards the white people by the locals is really disgusting indeed, but the truth is that this feeling can be felt everywhere in Taiwan, or any third world country where the U.S.'s influences are deep and great economically and politically. It is understandable if you look back to the island's history of the past 60 years. Even today, many Taiwanese mean American when they say foreigner, and American means white people, which means some superior race---this term is meant categorically.---that is to say, any individual from that race. I had known a white American some 40 years ago. He was then retired from the U.S. Army and fed so well just by hanging around with some rich women who might have desperate need for Green Card. This guy of his 30's never went to work. He was always busy on dating, plus attending party one after another and I seldom saw him sober in the morning. The life of a common white American could be so easy right here in the old days, no kidding. I think even today such mentality( on Taiwanese side)still prevails to what extent. I am glad this young lady put it straight. True friendship can only be built on equality and mutual respect, and I don't think anyone with sound reason and conscience would like living in a place where people are treated according to the color of their skin. Taiwanese should feel shame on themselves indeed, as such discrimination never truly diminishes.

why don't you feel shame of those white people ?? Taiwanese society and these expats including US government should all be ashamed for creating such an enviroment

I'll be there in roughly 6 months at the very most. I have a pretty insane story. I'd love to sit and chat with you, Mr. Chen. I am a 42 year old white American male. ( the PFP is just a video game character ) - My story is a little more extreme than other American ones ive seen on this channel. So we may have to only speak on certain topics. I'm unsure on what is permitted. But i am coming for a vacation soon, then returning to the US to obtain the TEFL, then will be coming to find a job. My hope is spend the rest of my life there. I would renounce my US citizenship right now if it were up to me. But my girlfriend is Taiwanese. Her whole family is still there. I don't speak, read, write, or type the language. But i have already started courses. I can say simple and basic phrases. But I am far from conversational as of now. But with time, fluency will be inevitable as i will be living there, and fully immersing in the culture. The thought of it brings me great relief. I know it will never be the case because of what i look like, but Taiwan feels like home already. And right now, I'm pretty homesick. 好久不见,台湾。善待自己,也善待他人。 💖
5:46 that's why a lot of white people coming to Taiwan find it easy to live there, because of the stereotypical Taiwanese people.

Taipei is so easy to fall in love with but I would not want to work an office job nor study in their school system. White Americans earn more teaching English than their other foreigner counterparts.

"I didn't put a huge amount of sod into it".......Is "sod" a typo of "thoughts"? I totally disagree Taiwanese people treat owning a "foreign dog" as a status symbol. They are not so snobbish. Besides, many Taiwanese people like black dogs, especially the purebred Taiwanese dog. I totally agree Taiwanese people are specially nice to caucasian, Japanese and Korean. It is good to be friendly and hospitable, but comparing to how Taiwanese people treat the people from other countries or even themselves, it is sometimes a little too flattering.
