I have been taking Taurine for more than 10 years! it has helped me with galbladder "sludge". no more pains after eating fats (I am keto) it helps thin your bile and cleans your liver as well. and helps energy. I use powder and the scoop in the jar is a 3 gram dose. take it every day, either in water but usually in my protein shake with berries.

I think writing tuarine in either the thumbnail or the title of the video is better because some ppl won't watch the video but will read the title and if they see it in the future they will think it is more legitimate and that extending lifespan is actually realistic.

It’s called clickbait and the only reason for a title like that
11 ай бұрын
@@tobik2627ope, the video is about what the title says. The definition of clickbait is that the content is not in line with the title. What you mean is phrasing a title to generate curiosity and thus make people to click. That's a big difference. The OP also inadvertently justified the use of this technique. If the viewer prospect knows immediately what the video is about, will go on and will click on another video which used the aforementioned technique. Therefore the "honest" creator will lose in the competition. The reason is the manipulated minds of viewers plus human nature. It's a good title. It made me click even though I am into this medical stuff plus actively use the technique so I recognized immediately but I don't mind at all. One may demand obvious titles from creators but in youtube it means the money from views will go elsewhere and the creator has put all the efforts for no return. Not fair.

There seems to be some confusion about the implied human dose. It's discussed at 8:08, but I also come to a similar conclusion using numbers from the Science paper: 10 g for an 80 kg person. In Fig. 4. "Taurine pathway affects health span in primates," monkeys were fed taurine [250 mg per kg body weight (T250), equivalent to T1000 in mice]. That gives us a 4:1 effect between mice and monkeys. In the graphy, T500 mice did much better than placebo mice, and often almost as well as T1000. Assuming that a human is more like a monkey, the T500 mouse dosage would roughly equate to 125 mg per kg. This works out to a dose of 10 g for an 80 kg human. Richard does then misspeak at 8:52, directly contradicting his own allosteric numbers.

Supplementing with NMN increases taurine, glutathione, collagen, etc. and reduces cellular senescence, activates stem cells and reduces protein misfolding, etc. If you're taking NMN, you probably don't need to supplement with any of these, nor with TMG, NAC, etc. DYOR - supplement companies will try to persuade you to spend all you have on their products. Brilliant thx Richard. I have quite a long history of taking at least a gram of taurine for the last five plus years. I'm just speculating but at least one definite benefit for me related to skin breakdown. In particular cracked lips. Remembering that our intestines are like skin turned inside out, my suspicion is that taurine could help maintain the intestinal tract. By going off taurine for a few months my cracked lips returned then went away again after I went back on daily taurine tablets. Based on the numbers from you & elsewhere I'm going to double my intake of taurine from my current ~1.5gms per day up to ~3gms per day which may optimise a range of benefits.

Ok, so both glycine and Taurine help (and didn't someone also say serine?), but overall high protein hurts. I can't help but think from your cysteine comments than there could be a gly-NAC connection, but I am wondering if the real mechanism is BCAA restriction (or improving the simple/branched chain amino acid ratio).
@ModernHealthspan
@ModernHealthspan 11 ай бұрын
Hi Jeff, thanks for your comment. I think the evidence can be contradictory so it is difficult parse. Dr Lamming found that protein restriction extended lifespan especially the BCAAs. But we also see individual amino acids seem to help. At the moment, I personally am more in the Dr Peter Attia camp, which I understand as, in the real world, lean mass is more important, which requires higher protein intake.

Hi Thanks for you comment. It is time for me to re-do my supplements and review them all again. I will make a video when I have done this. I do take most in the morning but also take some later, a couple of reasons for this. One is two spread out the work the liver has to do (I don't know how much this matters). Another is to take the ones appropriate for sleep later in the day, such as apigenin, spermidine, HLA, Mg. I now take my NMN in the middle of the day, when I take whey protein. This is based on our conversation with Dr Zemel where increased leucine improved the effectiveness of NMN. (though I should note that he also said that when leucine is with the other amino acids the effect is a lot less, but it might help!). Some are also better with meals, for example omega-3 (based on conversation with Dr Bill Harris) so I take that after dinner.

Dude, everything drops as we age, especially hormones. our bodies become less efficient, and need more nutrients to repair. all diseases of aging are a consequence of low hormones. very few doctors have been trained in HRT for women or men. Remember, as we age, we dont function as well as we did when we were younger. everything slows and body must repair itself. energy wanes, keeping fit is harder, we have to eat a lot less calories as metabolism slows, if you dont eat a good amount of fresh meat, you arent getting much taurine and our bodies dont make it as well when we are over 40. therefore we must supplement nutrients and minerals for optimal quality of live. trust me, I've been on HRT and supplements since 2011 at age 51. I am now 63. my friends are falling apart, crunchy, sore joints, weight gain, saggy skin, exhaustion, miserable lives. Me, I'm aging backwards, thanks to supplementing many hormones that are prescribed to me by a hormone specialist, including thyroid, estrogen, progesterone, dhea (and testosterone as well for a short time, but I make enough now.) I'm at the gym 5x a week, thats where I met my new husband, who is 23 years YOUNGER than me. that's what hormone replacement and supplements like Taurine does for me.

Taurine is concentrated in fluids. So, meat that is hung, ground, or sitting on a meat rack will lose taurine content. Few modern people eat fresh meat, which might mean taurine intake would be lower. That is why taurine supplementation could potentially benefit even those on a meat-heavy diet. But it's definitely beneficial for anyone restricting meat intake, though it demonstrates why meat restriction is a bad idea for health.

Hi Tim, thanks for sharing. Here are my thoughts, in biology, there is always a trade-off. Humans need taurine in the diet when very young but later can make taurine from cysteine so it is not essential for us. Cats require it through life. Maybe because they eat nothing but meat it was never worth developing the ability. However I think the main thing is that taurine is beneficial in later adulthood. This is not something that evolution cares about very much, so even if the ability to make more taurine when you are over 50 is unambiguously good, there would be no selective pressure to develop it.
