An Amtrak Ride to Boston from Portland - 4/26/13

The Downeaster runs on an awesome route. I highly recommend riding the Downeaster... very fun. Glad you enjoyed!

I agree with you, Mike! I can say that because it's the only Amtrak route I've ridden. But I love the locations on this route and it's just a great ride. Thanks Mike!!

I'm sure they tend to keep them on the east coast, so they don't get too far away. I've seen a video with one in Florida, and that is the farthest away I've ever seen one.

hopefully I will get to ride that train this summer. Im taking the Lake Shore Ltd from Chicago to Boston. Do I change for the Downeaster at the same station or is there another station i have to go to in Boston ?

Thanks! The LSL terminates at South station. You will have to go to North Station to get on the Downeaster.

You can get off at Back Bay and use the MBTA Orange Line, or take a cab ride from South Station

Do you know that south facing signal at 10:55 in Dover? I tried to get a shot like a week ago of the downeaster knocking down the signal, but the signal never lit up. Was it broken, or was it a different type (e.g. approach lit) of signal?

I'm not sure what was going on. It usually lights up each direction when the train gets close
