Travant is basically almost exactly what I wanted Garon to be, like if Fates didn't do the whole "the real Garon is dead and replaced by an imposter" thing, Travant is basically how'd I'd imagine him to be like.

Another point I really like about Travant (anda few other first gen crusader descendants) is that they almost seem to be cursed by their lineage, and can't help themselves but stick to conflicts and ideals that seem to be inherited from their ancestors. Sigurd ultimately died because he was too busy being a righteous knight doing righteous things to notice he was being manipulated. Eldigan died because he was too hung up on being loyal to Agustria's ruling family branch. Travant and Quan died fighting each other's family branch, continuing the conflict that started with their respective crusaders.

Something I wanted to add since the fe4 oosawa manga finished the translation of what correlates to fe4 chapter 9 and this travants arc: It plays out mostly the same but the main thing they added is that travant loved ethlyn as well which is mostly important for an emotional gut punch when altena realizes travant was reffering to her birth mother the whole time. My favorite addition is that before he goes on his suicide charge he tells arion to tell altena that he was only using her as a pawn or only valued her for her holy blood to make it easier for her to leave him and join her real family. This is just really sad man like we never actually find out travants true motives for taking altena whether he wanted a gae bolg soldier or whether he wanted it to be the start of a unified thracian nobility. In fact his whole character is somewhat vague except for that he loves his children. And hell they even do the cliche thing where after travant dies he sees a young altena telling him there's so many flowers in heaven. But like it also works because the flower is meant to represent thracias future so that the mountains will bloom with nature leading to prosperity and like goddamit manga travant almost made me cry he's so we'll written.

IDGAF if he murdered Quan and Ethlyn and did a lot of messed up crap, he's still my favorite Fire Emblem character of all time all given he is willing to destroy his reputation with non-Thracia citizens if it means HIS people are protected, and provided for. I never been in a poverty state, but I've seen what has it done to people, so I sympathize with Travant's actions.

I'm glad you covered Travant! My memory was bad, I swore Travant had more scenes in FE5, I'm surprised he only had that one scene but you're right. I'm happy the ending was very pro-Leif, one of the more underrated protagonists!

14:00 You can argue I'm splitting hairs, but the more accurate word is xenophobia. Yes, it's still bigotry, but I think it's better to not misuse words. Travant is one of the reasons I hope a remake of FE4 is willing to expand upon what's there, like SOV (only maybe they change some of Thracia's section to better reflect it's state).
