Tbh, Canas dying in that blizzard makes some sense from a certain point of view. Him going out of his way to teach Nino literacy or hear out Pent with his curiosity and listening to Renault shows that he has a kind soul. It's likely he and his wife ran into the blizzard and were ready to die to protect the others because it was their nature. All in all, Canas is quite a *cool* character.

While two people each having a relative that share a name doesn't mean anything IRL, in fiction that usually means something. Sure, it's not a guarantee that they're related, but if the writers didn't want people to think that, then they wouldn't put it there. It would be like having a character say to someone that they look like their long-lost sister and are about the same age and then backpedaling to say they aren't. I also like Mass Effect.

Unrelated, but making his joining chapter the Gaiden one instead of the boat chapter is still the most baffling decision the game made. You just saved the castle, and now you're randomly on a boat talking to some old guy you never meet before. It was needlessly confusing to young me.

@@AlejandroRodolfoMendez The issue isn't the Gaiden. It's that they chose the Port Map to be the Gaiden instead of the Ship Map. Because in terms of storytelling, the Ship Map doesn't adds anything, while the Port Map is pretty important (they could even introduce Canas in that map, that's not the issue). Taking over the castle, then finding yourself in the middle of the sea surrounded by a bunch of strangers is very jarring.

@@shytendeakatamanoir9740 the issue i With that map besides the cool moments of plot is that how people confront that map, it's better to confront them than let them arrive to you. And yet yes agree the port shouldn't be a Gaiden, but again they expect you get how to recruit raven lucius and save the green units. I only got the green units the first time

I'm curious, do you have any particular connection with Ephraim? I'm sure you'll Eventually get to him but i'm.curious if when that happens, you're either gonna be in the rut I am* or if you'll end up shedding other light on him I didn't consider before *Me, I love characters like Alm and Hector, I want to love Ephraim, but a couple mishaps with him kinda make me like Eirika more/like Ephraim less than I otherwise would. (Doesn't help that fe8 has a cast I adore elsewhere)
