I have the green dial version. It's super handsome as a dress watch. I changed the strap to a carbon fiber one, and it looks very classy. Highly legible face with a great handset. Great depth to the dial. For the price, it's a home run!

Hard to find now as of 2021 but Iv just bought one £260 in new unworn condition, I’m going to change out the date wheel to a black one also change the strap for a military aviator style brown leather. Happy days.

Love seeing more sub $300 Fliegers, Jody. I definitely feel like the market (and channel) are flooded with divers so it's a nice change of pace to get a couple more in over the last few months. Have you looked into Ticino for their sub $300 Fliegers? They seem to be pretty solid, I have a discontinued 47mm Type A with a Miyota 9015 and a full titanium case. It's huge, but it's exactly what I was looking for and couldn't find in most of the sub $500 brands and has a unique twist. Keep up the great work, Jody. Can't wait to see what other stuff you have hidden up your sleeves (literally)!

I got one of these a few weeks ago - green dial. Your review is pretty much spot on. A very handsome watch at a decent price with some inexplicably confusing design choices. For example, on the caseback, having "Meters" in lowercase with the rest of the text being all caps. As a graphic designer who is OCD about such things, it bugs me. Luckily it's on the caseback and I don't have to look at it all day. And while I appreciate having a date - although not really necessary on a Pilot's watch...that date window. I was skeptical about the "squashed pumpkin" crown, but it actually operates quite easily. The bronze hasn't developed any sort of patina over the past few weeks which is also odd. As for the "Crazy Horse" leather strap - it does feel a bit plasticy at first but seems to be mellowing out with wear. A nice Zelos inspired Horween would have been preferable, of which I have plenty. Or maybe an actual pilot style strap with the rivets. All in all, as you astutely point out, it's a nice offering but could have been much better with just a few minor changes. Thanks for the review!

I like a high water resist, but maybe 200m is enough to go relaxed to beach. I love the look and the white window, unfortunatelly too big the lug to lug for my 16,6cm/ 6,5 inch wrist. A very good and fair review as allways

Great review, and I need a large watch for a few reasons. Larger is easier to read as I currently have cataracts that interferes with my close up vision, and the larger watch helps in that respect. I also have a very large wrist, at 8 1/2” wrist this watch should wear very nicely. I’ve experimented with different sizes and this one should fit nicely. Overall I do like this watch a lot, although I think I would prefer a green dial. Also the Blue Angels are a naval exhibition flight team, and as this is a pilots watch, it seems to fit the watch nicely!

Hi Jody. I always look forward to your honest reviews of watches. I respect that a lot. Some give in to brands to get a kickback and say it is a great watch even though its a pile of junk. It's a nice looking watch. It is too big for me and I hate crappy straps as it could cost 70 dollars or more for a decent replacement. I know pilot watches are made to be big as you want easy time reading when you are flying. Most people who buy these I seriously doubt are pilots so maybe that's why the water resistance is good. Not good for leather to go in the water. I do know they make leather bands that are treated with chemicals to be able to take the strap in the water.

Re: the excessive water resistance. As heard on another channel “If you ever find yourself in the water during your flight, then your watch not working isn’t going to be the biggest issue you have to deal with.” You’re absolutely right, money should be spent on other features on this type of watches.

Agree with you, however I’m thinking the white in the sub dial does tie in with the white date wheel. If you ditch the date, then probably should ditch the sub dial. Also agree having curved lugs would target more wrist sizes. All of my pilot watches are that same straight lug style. My German pilots all have great straps and low water resistance, but my Chinese pilots have junkie straps and over the top water resistance. Pattern? Great channel!

Great review. I'm in the minority that usually doesn't mind white date windows - in fact I frequently prefer them, so that's not my issue here. Size is thing here; it's' too big for my 6.5 inch wrist. Shame, too. I love everything about it other than likely the strap, too, as you mentioned. I'd find a cloth or rubber alternative.

They have been amazing for me and are lovely, elegant pieces with in-house movements and sapphire for around 160 usd. Would like to see how they compare to the chinese specials. I said it in your Borealis video. It seems to be a trend for Micro brands to add unnecessary water resistance to beef up the specs. Maybe it's the cheapest way. Then again, you can't really do much for a basic and simple design like a flieger.

Interesting that the "Blue Angel" case back does not show the silhouette of an F-18. I don't know that a case back has kept me from purchasing a watch before but this one is. Whoever found the image of the F-18 for them goofed this one up. Wonder, can the 24hr dial be set to another hour than the main hands; i.e. can this function as a GMT?

The 24H hand on NH37A is tied to the hour hand and cannot be set independently. The crown functions are the same as NH35A (position 0 hand-winding, 1 quick set date, 2 time setting with hacking).

Yes, I said MiG-29, but you're right, they're Sukhoi. The horizontal stabs extend further aft on the MiG. At any rate, it shows that almost no research was done, it's not a product they care about, and it's probably an unlicensed cash grab. If I'm correct, I hope the US Navy, the Blue Angels, et al sue their asses.

Anyone else also think it's annoying that the 24h dial is in white while everything else (except that aforementioned date window) is faux patina'd? To be honest I would prefer this watch with a different movement and design changes: Go to a manual wind only movement, remove the date complication and the 24 hour complication, and do everything else necessary to make it thinner, like going to a different caseback at the expense of waterproofing. Maybe spend that money on a GMT function? Always useful in a flieger to be able to display a second time zone.

Looks good for an affordable Flieger, but it seems not to be truly a Flieger that stands out...the numerals' color matches rather than pops out like the stark white, green, or orange you see on others, and the Type A is easily confused for just a standard dial. Perhaps if the strap were also more of a Flieger style witht the rivets. All of these things make it more of a competitor to a San Martin than say a Laco Aachen. Good and fair review. Nonetheless, at $279, it is a nice price, and (sotto voce) after I get tired of it I can cannibalize it for the movement and the case for some other project.
