An Aquatic Conundrum: Can Betta Coexist with Dwarf Puffers?

Pea puffers (what we call them in the states) are super aggressive. They will nip at any fish that they can catch. The reason why this is such a big problem is because they have teeth and will literally eat off all the fins of most smaller fish. I work at a fish store and we were having a problem with them doing this to all fish so we had to eventually separate them and have a species only tank

Live in pa, USA. Have pea puffers in a 75 gallon tank, with my 4 angel fish, betta, huge sucker, mollys, plus couple other kinds of fish, they all get along, they all eat great, they all look amazing, 20 fish total, we introduced the puffers later, now if we did the opposite n had puffers first n added the others they may have been territorial, have a video of them on my page

We added 3 dwarf/pea puffers to a community tank to help with pest snails. They cleared the tank in 2 days! They are getting along with our Platies, Mollies, longfin cherry barbs, and various Corydoras, but they spend most of their day behind plants and decorations. When they do appear, no one bothers them. Heading over to your feeding video to see what else I can feed them 👍

I've got 2 with a school of black neon and ember tetras along with cherry shrimp and a dwarf crawfish. Sometimes the black neons will run the puffers off, and the puffers will chase each other. They've all been together for a few months now and doing quite well. No extreme aggression from anyone. I was told at the store my setup might now work, but I guess I'm one of the ones that got lucky. Their tank is also HEAVILY planted, so that might play a role in it.

my 2 dwarf puffer are peaceful as far as i can see, they live with 6 cpds, amanos, malayas shrimp, wild colour neos, dwarf crayfish, silver flying fox, Sae, otos and an apistos in 40cm cube..kinda overstock bcause i adopt many of fish but yeah there was no fin nipping or other being bullied and it has been 2 months in the tank..however my apisto died a week ago due to unknown causes but there was no fin nipping and he was fine the night before his demise

Hey man, recently my neons start nipping the bettas fin, they were living together for over a month now almost 2 months, and the betta seems not showing any aggressive behaviour towards the neons when they nip his fins, I don't know why but his a betta, fighting fish why is he not nipping back at the tetra, his much bigger than them. What can I do to lessen the fin nipping of the neons? About 10 neons and a male betta in my trop tank with 2 amazon swords and 1 anubia plants and a drift wood.

I had alot of beta in guppie, platty ext tank but they did start fighting at older age to death! I sold them all but one ! I have one beta in every tank works great but only one per tank ! I really want a puffer but I don't want to mess with live food all the time lol

Betta’s are great! I give my Dwarf Puffers frozen bloodworm. It works well 👍🏻

I have shrimp with both my Betta and Dwarf Puffers. The Betta leaves them alone, the puffers do show them a little too much attention for my liking 😞

Hi everyone! I want to build a puffer tank in the near future, but i really like to add some life to the tank. I know that the puffers may be to aggressive against other fishes, but what about shrimps? Somebody has some experiments whit this combination? Or they can’t live together because of their requirements of water parameters? (I dont know what parameters puffers like, im in just the dreaming stage of the puffer tank, i didnt start it yet)

Hi. I have a handful of shrimp with my Dwarf Puffers, but the puffers are still babies. No doubt they will grow large enough to see the shrimp as food. I would image every other species of puffer will quickly devour shrimp 🤔

I legit have 5 guppies .. 2 died with in 3 days .. 2 other are doing great still… the 3rd legit disappeared…. No clue where it went … any advice on keeping them alive.? I’ve done great in years past.. well over 10 together for years.. now my kids want a simple guppy tank.. 15 gallon.. and waters treated , cycled cured etc .. but why are they struggling
