Thanks for this review, I need a new pen display and this helped me out a lot especially since you're one of the few reviewers who uses Sai 2. Have you had any problems running Sai2 on the pro8? Were you able to use Sai 2 right out the box or did you have to change some settings or download any new drivers? Thanks for any help!

Glad you found this helpful and I did go into the sai other then tab pen settings and switch it to use windows API for vista or later. And it started working. I also use a glove when drawing, since sai 2 doesn't really support touch it makes it so I don't accidentally hit stuff when resting my hand on the screen. It'll take a bit to get use to but you'll get the hang of it. And if you want more tapered lines when drawing just bump up the stabilizer.

I just threw down 2 grand on the 2024 OLED Surface, and was looking for some reviews. I really liked this one! I had used an iPad pro previously, but I'm pretty frustrated with the Apple ecosystem, and I already have a gaming PC that runs Windows, so I really wanted a Laptop that I can draw on. I'm also fairly heavy handed when I draw, and put more pressure on the screen than the average person. I'll be looking out to see how that affects drawing on an OLED. Hopefully it's still built strong. My final thought is, yeah, Microsoft sure likes to milk us for money. I forgot what the keyboard was in this video. But the new 2024 one is 450 dollars. Which is absolutely ludarcis. But I'm coming from an iPad Pro, and if I want to give the Surface a fair shot, I have to compare quality to quality.

Thanks. I really enjoyed this. Its so hard to find a decent Surface Pro 8 Artist related review. I am deciding between possible Ipad Pro, S8+ or Surface Pro 8. The only downside is the Pen and Keyboard for the Surface Pro. The pen needs a seperate charger if you don't have the keyboard cover. and the charger doesn't come with the pen.

Yea the separate pen from charger, honestly doesn't make any sense to me. Like maybe if it had the same feature as the apple pen, where it charges from chi charging off the device. But as far as I know it doesn't. So it's just weird that they did it that way. I heard good things about the S8+. But I am skeptical about it since it's on Android OS. Maybe I am just bias cause Android tends to fall a little behind with it's software every now and then. Then you have apple. Who is just apple... Honestly just go with w.e you'd find more suiting to you. And if there is an apple store, or a store with the S8 that lets you test it out. Do that first, so you get the feel for it. You can't really do that with the surface (at least around my area) cause they closed their brick and mortar stores. Whichever you choose I hope it's the right fit for you.

@@EldenDraws I tested them all. Only issue is store models are demo models. Which restricts what you can do, including testing out apps and software. But thanks for your suggestions. Have you tried any alternaltive stylus's with the pro8?

I personally have not but the person who made the tablet pro pen tool software has a KZbin channel and they have. Their KZbin channel is kzbin.info . Hopefully they could answer your question about that.

Awesome review! I wish there were more on the SP8 out there. I have the exact model you do and I love it. **Slim Pen2 DISCLAIMER. After 4-5 months I noticed the tip was bent/curved. No idea how it happened, I don't draw or press hard, main use is handwritten note-taking for school. Just happened over time I guess. Very annoying as it made it difficult to write where I intended. I don't believe MS sells replacement tips for the SP2, I could only find them for the SP1. I called technical support and they replaced it at no cost, so I guess I'm good for another 4 months. After researching, I found that others have had the same issue. It's been reported that the type of plastic used in the tip easily bends due to heat from the screen, ridiculous IMO considering the cost of the pen. I wonder if there are alternatives that work just as well with the SP8? I don't use any screen covers. I found that the matte screen protectors eat away at the tip plastic. Alternatively, when I used a tempered glass protector it created a terrible diagonal line jitter. So, now I just go raw, plastic on glass.

Glad you liked the review. I also noticed that my pen tip kinda dwindling. But not enough to be a hindrance yet. So it is nice to know they'll replace it. I know some people use other pens, a channel that made the software I use for the buttons on the pen, Tablet Pro is their handle, I believe they talked about using other pens for the SP8. In some of their videos. So you might want to look over there. Other than that I am not too well versed in that topic.
