I'm 40 been just agnostic and trying to be a good person without religion my entire life and only found your content a couple months ago after finally finding Jesus Christ in my life. The Bible was so great for helping with my situation presently but the way you give the meaning behind the passages and how it applies to life and tough situations is phenomenal and a true gift.

@@shamanik1320 Not just hot air. Personally, I disliked the stories of Abraham and Isaiah, but Joel gives a different perspective, context to better understand the Bible. I would have to do digging to find one of them. I find the idea of ever considering sacrificing a child metaphorically or otherwise an abombination, but Joel has a way of looking at it that makes it more accessible. Truly, I prefer the New Testament to the Old, and without Joel, my views on the Old Testament have changed. I disagree with polygamy and such, and there are instances of it in the Old Testament, but again, I thank Joel for bringing some relevance to the Old Testament, which I have viewed as GOD IS ANGRY. The New Testament to me is God is forgiving.

Yes, child sacrifice should be a frowned upon thing (hah jk but obv abomination) buuuut the story really isn't about child sacrifice but willingness to trust and show submission to your creator. I mean in the end no child was actually sacrificed. Lol funny thing about the Bible with how precise it is and the deepness of it's lessons. I also prefer the new testament but the poetry and wisdom books in the old is very good too. I've kinda only till recently discovered close to the appreciation it deserves.

One question for everyone that didn't seem to come up in this sermon: Do we THANK AND PRAISE our infinitely loving, merciful and JUST God for the struggles, trials and persecution? Thank you God when we are financially poor, that you remind us of how dependent we are on you for EVERYTHING. Thank you God for physical ailments, that allow us to be thankful for when we are healed/healthy. Thank you God for the privilege of suffering for the sake of your Holy name. Thank you for the privilege of being persecuted for telling people YOURTRUTH, even when it's hard. Thank you God for using challenges in our lives to draw us nearer to you. Thank you God for correcting and rebuking us when we stray from your desires. Thank you God for your LAW, which lets us know how incredibly sinful and rebellious we are, so that we know how incredible of a SAVIOR Christ is.

OH JOEL U ARE MY ANGEL THIS MORNING! God knows how I’ve been thinking of myself since I could remember how to even think!! Always believing I need someone to come along and save me from the misery I’ve come to lock myself up in. How I think I there’s no way possible I could ever have anything in life when at this very moment I have absolutely nothing. Done lost all my sisters , my mother past away 2 yrs ago this Mother’s Day weekend. The past 2 yrs I’ve done nothing but stay locked up in this very house my mother passed away in. Never socializing, I have no friends, just my son and daughter and my mothers dog, and an addiction I’ve drowned my sorrows, my sadness, my future in it seems. This message today had me in absolute tears as I drove back from picking my son up from night shift work at the plant. I’ve always belittled myself thinking the little trouble I’ve gotten in when I was younger is keeping me from getting a good job, a future heck even something as small as a state ID. Thinking I’m gonna die young like my sisters. Oldest one being 45 when she passed. 45 for me is coming up in September. I find excuses as to y I can’t get out and do these things. I’m praying I can keep this message with me from this point on for the rest of my life. I wanna claim to be the one who makes YEARS beyond what my sisters did. To be the one who LIVES not LIVED life fully. Do things go places I never thought I could. Be the mother to give to my children instead of them help support me because I’m to afraid to leave this house. PLEASE KEEP ME IN UR PRAYERS! THANK U FOR LETTING ME SEE THAT I AM WHAT IS STOPPING MYSELF FROM BEING HAPPY AND HAVING THE LIFE I ONLY DREAM OF HAVING. TO MAKE THAT DREAM A REALITY!! I came to this looking for a sermon because of how thankful I am and wanted to learn and be encouraged to praise. I did not expect to be told that GOD WILL CHOOSE OVER OTHER PEOPLE IN NEED OF HIM to cater to people who aren’t complimenting God’s works. GOD WORKS ALL THINGS TOGETHER FOR GOOD!!! If people who love love and are building their relationship with God haven’t learned yet to praise God in give thanks in all circumstances…. GOD WILL WORK THEM TO COME TO HIM FOR WISDOM AND THEY WILL LEARN THAT AND THEY WILL BE WORKED INTO PRACTICING IT UNTIL IT BECOMES A WAY OF LIFE EVENTUALLY! Our God doesn’t make mistakes and He knows how to MOLD THOSE WHO WANT CHANGE AND TO BE MADE HOLY! Stop teaching lies. THE LORD WILL NEVER PASS OVER AND IGNORE HIS CHILDREN. He will teach them and always be there even if he isn’t responding in a way the looks like favor. God’s word says: Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. Hebrews 13:5 It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” Deuteronomy 31:8 While God LOVES an attitude of gratitude and thankful spirits. He knows us and when we are at our worst we should be encouraged to SEEK HIM through scripture and pray so that the TRUTH may set us free!
