I'm so excited to present this video where I'm joined by the amazing Woolly Wormhead!
Woolly is the designer behind many famous hat pattterns, taking short row techniques are creating amazing hat designs.
Woolly has a new book out - Short-row Colourwork Knitting - and I was very lucky to be gifted an advanced copy. My thanks to Woolly for joining me to chat about the new book, and their publisher for the copy.

I'm going to have to call in to my local library and put in a request for them to purchase the Woolly Wormhead book. That way everyone in my community will get a chance to be inspired by it as much as me.

Marvelous I need to learn something new in knitting. I am 75 and have to keep the brain going. I ore ordered the book. I always read through new knitting books like a novel first. Thanks for a wonderful interview with Woolly Wormhead. I used to follow her mystery KAL years and years ago. I fell off the hat-knitting wagon at some point. I would love to get back into knitting hats, especially with the short-row technique. It was quite popular in Denmark 10-15 years ago, everything was made with short-rows. I'd love to give it a go again.

Such a great interview with Woolly Wormhead! Well done, Martyn! I love working German Shortrows, it’s probably my favorite way of doing shortrows. I’ve never worked on a design by Woolly, but she’s been on my radar for a long time. I’m SO intrigued by this book, the techniques and the possibilities!

Great timing! Have just knit my first german short rows ever. Don’t think they were invented when I last knit a jumper (c1980s) Loved the interview, now following Woolly and have a hat on my todo list. Thanks again Martin and Woolly for a great interview and inspiration.

Hi Martyn and Woolly. I've never tried german short rows but loving the patterns. I hadn't thought of them in a hat, I just thought they where for garments. Maybe a good thing never having tried them before I have no bad technique to change. The shawl looked so pretty. Well done on the homework Martyn. Happy April to everyone. xxJane 🐑🌼

This was a lovely interview, I enjoyed listening to Woolly talking about their design process. I usually use Sunday short rows, but I will have to experiment with the German short rows a bit more to see how they compare!

This is my first encounter of Woolly and wow! What an interesting and beautiful technique. The maps are so clear as to what's happening. My hesitance with short rows is I often get lost of where I am and which way I should be knitting.

Thanks for the inspiration. I’ve just connected how I can use these ideas on baby knits! Our “plunket” baby singlets and hats are knit sideways in garter, so I’ll be knitting them in colourwork short rows now. Makes it much more interesting 😃❤️
