As summer was approaching it's end, it became apparent that a decent hike was long overdue. It was a plan we had shared for a while, but as always, the question was how to make the vague notion a reality. Didn't turn out to be that difficult in the end once we pulled ourselves together.
This last weekend before the fall equinox turned out to be a brilliantly sunny one. Walking through the cool forest air, we realized, that doing this hiking thing in early autumn might actually be better than in the heat of the summer. Though we only had two days, which flew by hastily, the journey itself turned out to have a somewhat more timeless impact.
The distance we crossed was 53,7 kilometres of the whole 372 kilometre long Oandu-Aegviidu-Ikla hiking trail that stretches from the northern part of Estonia to the southern border with Latvia. Arguably the stage we took from Nõmmeveski to Aegviidu is one of the more scenic ones on the trail. Too bad I forgot to charge the batteries of my gimbal. But the plan was that this was only the first hike of many ... so hopefully better shots next time.
