Just an idea from a very old stamper who used to use a ball point pen to emboss. It's nice to address an envelope or sign your card, then emboss with what ever color you like.

Love the look of this, however I don't have coloured embossing powder apart from clear, gold and silver opaque. I wondered if I spotlight coloured and then covered with clear embossing powder it would give a similar look?

Yes that would work, you could ink blend with a mask over then ink up the area with embossing ink and add on the clear powder :) just need to be translucent inks- not something like oxide inks- they'll cover your image
