Tony! I used to think that Edinburgh is the most beautiful city in the world to me because I am an American and, perhaps, easily impressed. You help me to understand that, objectively, Edinburgh is simply the most beautiful city.

This was our Sunday walk when we were children. Loved your walk today. Keeps the homesick feelings away. Saturday is my favourite day to sit and have a coffee while you walk Edinburgh. ❤ I grew up in Little France.

Thanks for posting this vid. Was born in Edinburgh in 1951 but moved away in 1973, Early part of my life lived on Arthur Street and me and my cousins (from the dumbiedykes) spent many days and hours playing on Arthur Seat. Later, as a teenager, often walked my dogs there (did a fair bit of my courting there as well 😁) So this vid brought back many happy memories for me 👍

I always describe Edinburgh as the taster for Scotland. Incredible views, big hills, iconic buildings and steeped in history! I do the same at Edinburgh Zoo when people comment on the view, I refer to Highland Wildlife Park! Edinburgh shows the potential, go a bit further and Scotland is awesome!

I’ve done that exact walk, stopped off at St Margaret’s loch then up and around. I’m an unfit 60+ year old but I managed it and had a huge sense of satisfaction afterwards. It truly is a beautiful walk and you can lose yourself in the silence. Thanks for another great video of your wonderful city x

Thanks for sharing this alternate route, Tony. I have old, chronic knee issues. Did Calton Hill two trips ago (beautiful views) and conquered lots of Edinburgh staircases and put in 20,000 steps a day this past Sept in Scotland. Survived although I’m in physio again. I didn’t think Arthur’s Seat could be a goal for me on our next trip over but after watching today’s video, maybe it can be! 😊

This is the route I took down a couple years ago, painfully limping it as I tweaked my knee somewhere around the top of Arthur's Seat. Was gorgeous with cherry blossom petals everywhere. And there was actually an ice cream truck sittin in that car park.

That was a fun walk. I'm so glad to find out about an alternate route to Arthur's Seat, since it looks pretty steep although we saw a lot of people climbing it when we visited in 2019. Now we know of a less arduous trek! That walk and that weather had me thinking you earned yourself one of those lovely Millionaire bars I discovered in Edinburgh, with a cup of tea! =) Happy New Year from California! (Also, that was a fun Bear song and many of us have been there with three year olds! What a blessing!)

Climbing Arthur’s Seat and the Crags were the only thing on my list that I wasn’t able to accomplish on my last visit. That list has expanded considerably since (thanks mostly to your videos!), but those views are still at the top of my plans for a return visit to your fair city. Though now maybe I’ll have to try both routes! 😉

I love that walk, Tony. As I've trouble walking. Due to Lung Disease. It may take me a tad longer. But the Beautiful Scenery, fairly makes up for it. And there's a bit of a Northern Ireland connection in Willowbrae? Ulster Drive etc. Also Ex Labour Prime minister, Tony Blair was Born in the wee Town/Village. On Paisley Terrace. No.5 I think. I love Edinburgh! And now that the Hotels have dropped their Ludicrously High Xmas/NY prices? I'll be returning soon. Loved the wee song taught to you by your Kids! lol. I did that when my 2 lads were wee! Great Vlog, as usual. See you sometime, Sir.

Clan history tells that there was once an occupation of Arthur’s seat by the clan Macrae …history does not tell us why they bothered…but we know that the citizens of Edinburgh ignored them and they went away…after about three weeks. Lovely videos….thank you.

Tony, thanks for telling us this. Sorry to hear of your Mamas passing - mine passed in 2018, it is never easy, but you carry her in your heart and if you are like me, as you get older you start hearing her words coming out of your mouth😂😂. Looking forward to coming in May to your beautiful city. Can you recommend a reputable Scottish owned and made place to buy good quality wool items in Edinburgh? Thanks!

This is also the route of Holyrood Parkrun. Go there at 9.30am on a Saturday and you will find about 400-500 runners going around. That gate is sometimes open (during the week) and you will find cars driving around it. Could you please let me know what side of the path we should walk on in Scotland? In Australia it is socially enforced to walk on the left, there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason here.

@@ClanBroonford good to know and love the vids. Good content for me to get to know Edinburgh better. Funny you saying when you go to other cities you expect them to be centred around a hill and a castle. When I came from Australia I expected every city to be centred around a river. Edinburgh is a exception to this
