A radical right triangle problem! Solve for c when we have the sides of a right triangle being sqrt(3), sqrt(4), and sqrt(c). Of course, we will use the Pythagorean Theorem but we have to be careful when we cancel the square and the square root.

It looks like and I might be wrong when a b and c are all square roots in a right triangle the answer for c would be a + b I mean like rt(a) plus rt(b) =rt(c) c=a+b. Correct me if I’m wrong
@Firefly256
@Firefly256 2 жыл бұрын
rt(a) + rt(b) does not equal rt(c) (rt(a) + rt(b))^2 a + b + rt(4ab) (rt(c))^2 = c For rt(a) + rt(b) to be equal to rt(c), rt(4ab) must be equal to 0, So either a has to be equal to 0, or b has to be equal to 0

@@wristdisabledwriter2893 You’re saying that rt(a) + rt(b) = rt(c) implies that a + b = c, which is wrong. The correct one should be (rt(a))^2 + (rt(b))^2 = (rt(c))^2 implies a + b = c

Not just like that.....the problem is you cannot take a square of root in seperate way.....you have to take that both because the equation is not deal with one number to one number....so we get the root of 3 and 4 in the same line.

if √3+√4 is not equal or greater than √7 then these three sides won't make a triangle.
@MichaelRothwell1
@MichaelRothwell1 2 жыл бұрын
√3+√4 is not equal to √7, but it is indeed greater than √7, so we do get a triangle. Proof: (√3+√4)²=3+2√3√4+4=7+2√3√4>7 So (taking the non-negative square root of each side), √3+√4>√7. Of course, this result and proof work for any (right-angled) triangle with sides √a, √b, √(a+b) where a, b>0.

start with the simplest right triangle: a=b=1. Then c=✓2 Next set b=✓2. Then c=✓3 Next set a=✓2 and b=✓3. Then c=✓5 Likewise, we can get to the square root of any integer just by drawing such triangles. I find that neat, too.
@ThatSword

@@BulentBasaran wanna see another cool thing? take a = sqrt of 0.5 and be = sqrt of 0.5. and c=1. you can basically do it to any square root and there is nothing really special about it, maybe it's just me idk but i had that idea already a long time ago in my head and it didn't really suprise me lmao
