An Easy Repair for a VacuFlow Vacuum

My Vacuflow 560 Central Vacuum quit working abruptly and I found an easy repair. There's a little plastic breaker in there that failed and its a pretty easy fix.
The first step was to determine if the breaker really was the problem. I replaced to motor about a year ago (here's a link to that video: • Replacing a Motor on a... ) and really doubted that it had failed again. So I wired around the breaker and, sure enough, the vacuum came right on.
In the fine print on the breaker was the name "Snap Action". I Googled it (to make it easy, here's a link to their website :www.snapaction....) and found my switch. The switch description said it was guaranteed for life, I didn't expect this one would be, but I e-mailed the company to order another one and they confirmed...they'd replace it for free.
Now, I did have to pay postage on the failed switch and send it back to them and provide a postage-paid envelope to get a new switch to me, but in about ten days, I had the switch, put it in, and the vacuum is working like a new one!

Your fix worked perrfectly! I've got a Vacuflo 960 with two of these circuit breakers and both of them failed when the vacuum overheated when the exhaust on the top of the unit was inadvertently blocked. Jumped the breakers to isolate them as the problem and then sent off both bad breakers to SanpAction and received the new breakers in about a week (only paid the cost of mailing the bad CBs to SnapAction). Thanks for posting the video...probably saved me a couple of hundred bucks.

Thanks. Save me a lot of headache. Able to jump the reset relay to restart the vaccum. Get warranty part when it fits my schedule.

Thank you. We have model 460 with the white wire (red & black covered wire inside of white coating) Could you please tell me what size wire this is? Ours was chewed by a 🐿️ and needs to be replaced. Thanks in advance!

Hey Mike, did you ever bother pushing the manual reset on the breaker you replaced? Also, great thought using bare wire, good thing you didn't electracuted. BTW breakers don't normally go bad. "Loads" such as a motor drawing to much current will trip a breaker. Did you ever put and amp meter on your motor? People, find the source of a problem. Just don't start replacing parts. It will get costly.

Doesn't look like he is going to respond to you. I have a Central vac with possibly the same issue. Last week it quit. I hit the reset a few times and it did not work. I took the top cover off to inspect all the wiring and found no issues so I put it back together. It magically started working again lol. It has now quit on me again so I am going to try and do what he did. I'll let you know how it goes.

So it was not my manual reset. I tapped on the motor with my screw driver and it started back up. I have a loose connection somewhere now that I have to look for. The vac is over 30 years old so I am not surprised lol.

Great video mine shuts off when it’s running for 10 min I believe it’s a heat overload but don’t know how to ck it or what it looks like ? Any help

I'm not an expert on those, but got lucky with the fix. You might try contacting VacuFlow at www.vacuflo.com/wba/header/contact-us/ or there's an outfit that sells parts for them online, Central Vaccuum Parts at 800-971-7172. They seem to know their stuff if you get the right person. Good luck!

Our Vacuflo 560 start is intermittent. I have to go out to the garage and tap the canister several times for it to start up. I'm thinking maybe the brushes, but would the breaker behave in this manner as well?

Thomas Moher Just call a service person. My vacuflo people are the best. I have had a 560 for about 20 years. I have called them maybe twice. It is a great product. Get it fixed.
