Great idea using the router, I’m actually going to use that to level some double joists that have different crowns. I’m sure you know, PT wood dust is laced with the preservative that is nasty to breathing in. Using the router overhead like that you can’t avoid inhaling that fine dust!

Learned a little domething today. I am going to amazon now for that bit. Thank you for the tip.

Wouldn’t it be easier to rip strips of wood and nail or screw them on to level them it out?

why can't you just set depth and under cut existing joists by an 1/8 or so and run soffit to new joist? love the videos and craftmenship! just curious
@victoryak86 Жыл бұрын
You could do that for sure but this is a nicer way to go.

I’d probably just use a power planer.

Could a trim router done the same job?
@huejanus5505 Жыл бұрын
No, that’s a 1/2” bit, to big for a trim router.
@ZeroColdx911 Жыл бұрын
@@huejanus5505 I’m sure they sell the same kind of bit in a smaller shank
@huejanus5505 Жыл бұрын
@@ZeroColdx911 They do, but cutting through 1.5” of wood with a trim router is a little sketchy.

Why not use a power planer set not too deep? It’s all getting covered

guess I don't see the advantage over a powerplaner.
@dylancocca1770 Жыл бұрын
power planer needs multiple passes would be a waste of time walking back and forth
@aaronoconnor606 Жыл бұрын
Agreed the flush trim bit is much easier to use in this application power planer wont reference the other joist the same way
@glendavis1266 Жыл бұрын
Why not tear out old joists and replace with what you want. Seems simpler!
