A transcript of sorts: Upper arm 3 muscles on the front and one on the back. The three muscles on the front are biceps brachii, coracobrachialis and brachialis. So the biceps brachii where does it attach to on the humerus? NOWHERE. ATTACHMENT ON THE HUMERUS, it skips the humerus entirely and attaches on the scapula and radius.. On the scapula, the bicep brachii attaches to the coracoid process and supraglenoid tubercle down to the radial tuberosity. This causes you to be able to turn your hand (supinate). So everybody, grab your arm like this. Now, I want you to stick your pinky up as high as you can and try and relax your biceps. ...You can't. Because the biceps not only flexes your elbow and flexes your shoulder, it also is the major supinator of your elbow. It turns your hand up like that, that is supination. If you hold a bowl of soup you are supinating. So, supine, supination, pronation supination. . So pronation, point your thumb down, that is pronation. This is supination , and the major supinator is the major supinator is the biceps brachii. Now, if you make yourself a muscle and then turn your hand around. Do you feel it all go away? Your biceps really only work when your hand is supinated. When your hand is totally pronated your bicep doesn't work because where it attaches onto your radius is facing the wrong way. So the other muscle, the one underneath there, the brachialis, it attaches to the ulna , not the radius.

@Ael Lea - he does mean the Pronator Teres there, not the brachioradialis. He's going though the pass-fail-pass-fail mnemonic, and that first P is for Pronator teres. The brachioradialis is on the back of the forearm - even though it is a flexor, it is located in the "extensor compartment" of the forearm and, like the extensor a, is innervated by the radial nerve.

Really, REALLY appreciate this. Makes all the hours I've spent trying to make sense of images and youtube videos pale in comparison. I was lost a bit, but I just kept watching the stuff I was confused about; and it began to make sense. I'm studying to be a massage therapist, and possibly much later - a physical therapist. A lot of this is overkill for that...but having the understanding of how it all fits together is amazing. He's the most concise and easy-to-follow instructor I've ever seen. He makes it fun, even. Wow.

+Amanda Shields You GO girl! Realize those dreams of yours! All my best to you :) There are other ways to get in touch with the body's underlying physiology, as well: Ever tried CONTACT DANCE or CONTACT IMPROV? IF not, look it up. Pretty cool stuff. Any kind of dance, or slow body movement awareness will give you insight into the way your own body moves and therefore, how ALL bodies tend to move; the muscles they use in conjunction with one another. Also, I find, that I am getting a window into these things through the practice of Aikido. Be well!

+Amanda Shields ...It's funny, I went to Aikido class, knowing that at the time it was more money than I could spend. But when I got there, I spoke with the senior instructor about that; and he could see that this was something that I REALLY wanted. He cut me a monthly deal - part of which, I was supposed to help clean up and be his assistant when he needed it. Since then, he's never raised the issue of the money; and he has hinted that he would help me become a Sensei, myself. Like they say, if there is a will - there is a way. Most times, we try to see into the future; and if we don't like what we see, we avoid even trying to get what we want. This is sad; especially if we are really attracted to a certain path. There are those who say that we don't really deserve anything...that we have to work FIRST before we can have the rewards. In a sense, that's entirely messed up thinking. The fact that we have a strong desire in the first place, MEANS that we are SUPPOSED to be following that path. This also means that the Universe supports us in that decision. Why? - Because as we journey along that path, we grow as people - we gain skills, and enhance our unique gifts. There will come a time when we SHARE those gifts. This is OUR PURPOSE; therefore it is right and good that we follow our inner urgings. Sometimes, it SEEMS as if the Universe doesn't support us. We run into stumbling blocks, rejection, personal fears and doubts; BUT this is the Universe's way of WEEDING out or FILTERING people into the path that they were destined to go down. EVERYONE has their own path. It is VITAL that they go down THAT path and not one that is UNSUITED for them. This sifting happens naturally, through the LEVEL of DESIRE; and thus COMMITMENT of time, energy and focus which we are WILLING to devote. The person who doesn't really have the desire necessary to overcome some of the kindly obstacle courses that the Universe throws their way? - Well, that means that they don't TRULY resonate with the path that they're headed down!

+Amanda Shields Last night, I made a decision which I believe might affect the rest of my life from now on. Instead of going to Aikido class; I went to this open house being hosted by the Healing Spirits Massage School. I was nervous and wasn't really expecting much to come out of attending; but I was pleasantly surprised. The instructors were there...and so was the woman who FOUNDED this massage school. After speaking individually with the various instructors - the students, instructors, owner, and the attendees all drew up chairs in a circle and had a discussion about various concerns. One of the concerns raised by myself, was not having the financial means to attend this school. I asked about ways to pay. There are some humble scholarships, internship or work exchange; and other possibilities to help pay for this. I asked the woman who's main job was to help create a business plan of attack for becoming successful once done with the schooling, a question about enlisting the help of a new form of raising capital: Online crowdfunding. She replied that the Camera had spots where a person could submit a proposal for donations for a specific purpose; and the Newspaper company would fund the proposal that they liked best. I wouldn't have even learned about that possibility had I not made the hard decision to skip an ongoing Aikido class, in exchange for attending the open house. The super-successful speaker, Bob Proctor, speaks on KZbin about "The 11 Forgotten Laws", which compliment "The Law of Attraction". One of those laws is the "Law of Sacrifice". But he says that when one sacrifices something; they are actually sacrificing something for something MUCH better. There will be times in all of our lives when we face a fork in the world. This is the time when we must adhere to "The Law of Sacrifice". If we do, untold treasures await us. There is another principle in life which I have witnessed operating flawlessly in my life, time and time again. That principle is the principle of the "One good door opened leads to multiple others". Yet, until you are willing to walk through that door and take the action to do so, you are blinded to the new set of possibilities which await you on the other side. You MUST go through that door to experience those possibilities which were just ideas or concepts in your mind. Later that night, we had a raffle. One of the prizes was $100 toward Tuition. I didn't get that raffle. I got some other prize. However, after I shared my particular difficulties in attending school by the following year - later as I was speaking to a woman about her own path to the energy modality (method, way, field, system) - Shiatsu...the girl who had received the $100 came over to me and said, "I want you to have this.", with a big smile on her face. I could feel that she was genuinely moved to help me. I felt a bit awkward accepting such a gift, as I didn't even know if I would be able to raise the rest of the funds to attend - and I told her as much; but she refused to take it back. She really wanted me to have it. This is the Law of Attraction working in strange and wonderful ways... I just wanted to share this with you, as you may take away something from this story for yourself. Take care and be well!

I spent two days trying to cram this info into my head, couldn’t make it stick and I was getting so discouraged. Watched this video, had to draw it out on my arm and if finally clicked. This guy has a real talent for teaching. If anyone has his email, tell him, students in Canada are hoping he starts his own Chanel!! Thanks so much to whoever uploaded this 🙌🏻

The brachioradialis flexes the forearm at the elbow. When the forearm is pronated, the brachioradialis tends to supinate as it flexes. In a supinated position, it tends to pronate as it flexes. It's origin is on the lateral humerus and attaches at the distal radius.
