10:00 Another way is to frame the situation is that the Hungarian Revolution was so successful because Austria was tied down fighting the Italians.

What was Russia's trade/economic relationship with Britain France and the ottomans during this period

Oh my! Thank you for asking that question! In the first spreadsheet linked on that page, scroll to 1854 and see the sharp drop going into 1855, it is incredible to see the impact of the war. Cerals, timber, potash, hides/furs, and metals seem to be Russia's chief exports.

Was Florence Nightingale anti-catholic? I remember reading somewhere that some Anglican nurses thought that she favoured the catholic patients too much. While I know that she rejected some catholic tenets, calling her anti-catholic seems wrong to me. Unless I am missing something.
@An_Economist_Plays7 ай бұрын
Anti-anything tends to be illogical and convoluted. Her writings about permitting Catholic nurses their own establishments indicate a strong sentiment against them. Can't speak to her favoring Catholic patients but I could speculate she considered them possible converts? Nevertheless, I don't want to overlook her compassionate service that helped to advance better medical treatment not just for soldiers, but for people in general. Sure, she has some human dings, but she worked hard to do good in the way she thought best and actually did some good for humanity as a result.

@@An_Economist_Plays This guy is nuts I have four Russian history books that have many disagreements and Great Russians trampling basically every other ethnicity in the empire is almost universally agreed upon with some disagreement over how bad it was for White Russians and Little Russians. The ones who say it wasn't as bad for Little Russians usually try to emphasize the conterminality Ukrainian and Cossack identities and the plight of the people the Cossacks were used to oppress!
