The demographic shifts affecting the general population and the clinicians that treat them have been converging for over twenty years. The Society for Critical Care Medicine back in 2004 called for Federal Action to avert this looming crisis. The COVID pandemic accelerated this into an actual crisis that required hospitals to re-imagine how patient care in the hospital needs to be delivered.
Prof. Maurizio Cecconi, MD FRCA FFICM MD(Res) and Dr. Robert Bilkovski, MD, MBA, will provide an overview of the demographic shifts and the stressors that preceded the pandemic and the challenges that hospitals faced during this surge.
Lastly, this webinar will describe concepts pertaining to the future hospital environment which provide greater flexibility in bed utilization, resource deployment of both staff and medical equipment, along with the importance of patient's and family's well-being. This will include the topic of adaptable acuity delivery models which have demonstrated success in the management of cardiothoracic surgery, oncology, and neurology patients.
