Linda is so impressive, and she truly honors Elvis, like donating the proceeds of her book to St.Jude, which is right in the spirit of Elvis' generous spirit. To me, Linda speaks more like a former spouse than many other people who talk about their departed partners. I really enjoyed this.
@debra2700
@debra2700 Жыл бұрын
I stumbled across an article from 1979 where Linda's parents were told they had to start paying $250 a month in rent on the house Elvis had bought for them. The article said Linda was starring on Hee Haw so why couldn't her and her brother Sam, who also got a house from Elvis, take care of their own parents? They spent money consulting attorneys on how to get out of paying for the house at a time when Elvis' Estate was broke and that money was coming from Lisa Marie's inheritance which was also being sued by Ginger Alden's mother. The more I read about Elvis' "true loves" the more disgusted I get.
@dougdickason
@dougdickason Жыл бұрын
@@debra2700 when reading what you wrote, it confused me, as I was under the thought that Linda's home, Sam's home, and their parents home, were paid off in full, so why would there be any debate over rent? This sounds like you are confusing what happened with Ginger Alden's parents, who did take the estate to court to get things that were "promised" to them like a free home. I have read so many books on Elvis, and have been a fan 40+ years and this is the first I have heard your story. Do you think it's possible you are confusing it with what you read about Gingers parents? If not, and you are positive about this, could you at least say where you read this, so I can research this further? Thank you, and yes it's sad to see all the people Elvis was good to not honor him in their actions. If this is a national enquirer article I wouldn't believe it unless there was another legitimate entity corroborating source.
@dougdickason
@dougdickason Жыл бұрын
@@debra2700 I followed up on your story by looking up lawsuits in the state of Tennessee. I did not find the suit between the estate and the Thompson's but did find the one between the estate and the Alden's. Here is a copy of some of the ruling that I will add here:>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> August 30, 1982. Henry M. Beaty, Jr., Memphis, for appellants. Palmer E. Miller, Charles L. Glascock, Memphis, for appellee. OPINION FONES, Justice. This is an action against the estate of Elvis Presley to enforce a gratuitous promise to pay off the mortgage on plaintiff's home made by decedent but not consummated prior to his death. The trial court denied recovery but the Court of Appeals found that plaintiff had relied upon the promise to her detriment and awarded plaintiff judgment on the theory of promissory estoppel. I. Plaintiff alleged that she relied to her detriment on a promise made by the decedent to pay off the mortgage indebtedness on plaintiff's home. Defendant did not deny a promise was made by decedent but contended that plaintiff's continued reliance upon that promise following decedent's death constituted an unreasonable and unjustified action on her part, and furthermore, that any damage done to plaintiff occurred as a result of affirmative action taken by her despite her knowledge of decedent's death and with full knowledge that decedent's executor had denied legal liability to fulfill the promise. *863 Plaintiff, Jo Laverne Alden, is the mother of Ginger Alden, the former girlfriend of the late Elvis Presley. Presley was a singer of great renown throughout the world and a man of substantial wealth. In January of 1977, Presley became engaged to Ginger Alden. He was quite generous to several members of the Alden family including Ginger and her mother, the plaintiff. Gifts to plaintiff included the funds for landscaping the lawn and installing a swimming pool for the Alden home. Due to his close relationship with plaintiff's daughter, Presley also became aware of plaintiff's desire to obtain a divorce from her husband. Presley offered to pay all expenses incurred in the divorce proceeding, including furnishing plaintiff an attorney; to advance plaintiff money to purchase her husband's equity in the Alden home; and to pay off the remaining mortgage indebtedness on the Alden home. As a result of these promises, plaintiff filed for divorce on the grounds of irreconcilable differences. On August 1, 1977, a property settlement agreement was executed in which plaintiff paid her husband $5,325.00 for his equity in return for a deed conveying all of his interest in the home to plaintiff plus a release of the husband from all further liability upon the mortgage indebtedness on the Alden home. The mortgage indebtedness at the time of the execution of the settlement agreement was in the sum of $39,587.66, and it is this amount which is the subject of the present suit, all the other gifts and promises to plaintiff having been fulfilled. On August 16, 1977, Presley died suddenly leaving unpaid the mortgage indebtedness on the Alden home. On August 25, 1977, Drayton Beecher Smith, II, an attorney for the Presley estate, informed plaintiff that the estate would not assume liability for the mortgage indebtedness.

She is so stunning.. Linda, is so genuine and lovely inside and out. I am glad that she mentioned Billy and Jo Smith. Linda, I do hope you guys have kept in touch with each other! I just discovered their channel a few months ago. You can tell how close they were to Elvis. I just watched the telling of how Gitlow came to be Elvis’ dog. Such a cute story. Elvis was an hilarious person. I love to to listen to him really laugh on videos. I love to laugh as well and though time and space separated us ( he passed when I was 13) I still feel like I knew him. Sounds crazy, I know but hearing Linda speak and listening to people who knew him so well gives you a glimpse of who he was as a person. Let me get back to the video.. lol. I wish Elvis and Linda had been together like Tom Jones and his wife. They were married for a very long time before her recent passing. I will read your book, Linda. It would have been wonderful if you wrote a song for him too. What a team that would have been

I truly Love Linda, when she talks I can feel her love for him even today. I get a knot in my throat. If you watch her, she does what a true fan does. I find her in obscure corners of the web on Elvis. She researches the man, his childhood, his army career... stuff we do because we genuinely care. Then I see Lisa & Riley say they never heard Elvis sing Gospel or his movies. Linda is still is learning and exploring him out of Love & Memories. She didn't bottle up her pain, she enjoys him still today by his legacy. That's true Love. I still do that with My Mom &y Grandpa's military career. It proved her love for him to me. Fans singing his songs, old sights he went to as a teen to film, she does what to would EXPECT a widow to do.

Elvis oh Elvis, this is the girl you should have married. I have always said it. One could write volumes on this caring loving smart articulate and beautiful girl. She was the real deal. I might add too nobody, nobody, took better care of Elvis than Linda. Linda, you had a heart of pure gold my girl. Nothing but kindness and compassion, and tolerance and understanding, toward everyone who crossed your path in this life. For those that didn't know what was going on, Linda Thompson saved Elvis 's life on more than one occasion with some of the lifesaving procedures she had to undertake. I personally believe if it had been Linda there instead of Ginger Aldin on august 16th 1977, Elvis would not have died. Love you Linda and may God bless you and your family. Thank you for this video.

Beautiful lady inside and out. I remember back in the 70s seeing many stories about Elvis and Linda in the newspapers, they seemed such a good match, such a shame Elvis could never really settle down properly. Way too much temptation thrown at him all the time I guess. I think Linda was the best thing that happened to Elvis, was she cared so much and they were like kindred spirits. Elvis would probably still be with us if Linda had married him. Classy lady.

I came here to say.I saw the Elvis movie. It was so obvious that Linda Thompson and other beautiful women in Elvis's life were omitted. This beautiful woman supported Elvis and Lisa Marie for years. Why the movie makers involved his long time ex wife to the extent they did is very curious. Just ridiculous. So childlike to believe Elvis only had one woman in his life.I hope this lady knows many people are not happy she was left out of this movie.Plus other pertinent people in Elvis Presley's life.People who his ex wife obviously has an issue with.

You're so right! Linda Thompson always tries to make it seem like she and Elvis had this "beautiful relationship," which is so not true. They had a tumultuous, "on and off" (and more off) relationship that's why Elvis hooked up with Sheila Ryan, Mindi Moore and others. Elvis ended up dumping Linda bcuz she was having an affair with his keyboard player (David Briggs), which of course she never talks about. Linda tried to get Elvis back, she would write him letters and call him even at the hotels that Elvis was staying at on tour. But Elvis never took her calls or had anything to do with her. So it's just very interesting how Linda continues to make people think she was his "best" gf. It's a joke.

Actually experienced what I believed was an Elvis sighting with a gorgeous blonde on the back of his three wheeler bike who I’m pretty sure was Linda Thompson . Union Ave. headed away from town one afternoon. He gave me a thumbs up for my new bright shiny fire engine red Mustang. I gave him a thumbs up for the beautiful lady on the back of his bike. Of course I couldn’t know for sure because the driver had a helmet with a tinted shield. However the news that evening reported Elvis sightings on his three wheeler. Would be interesting to know for sure. Enjoyed the video immensely!

You have been through unbelievable things in your life, but have always managed to come out on top. Your parents deserve great praise for the person they bore and raised to be such a special person. You now carry on their legacy and I hope your children will carry on yours. You deserve to be appreciated for the kind soul that you are. May God bless you all the rest of your days here on earth. Thank you, Linda, for Taking Care of Elvis. He was lucky to have you for those years.

She seems like such a lovely, genuine person. All of the women he was with, so far that I've seen, spoke well of him. She has the right spirit. Too bad celebs don't know St Jude is not there to really help kids despite the image they want you to believe - you have to go outside the conventional medical system. Wish there was a holistic healers' association people could donate to. The money is all going to fake charities.

Linda, Elvis was a smooth talker. I know it hurt when he bought you a ticket to go home to your family after he ended your relationship. Sad.

I'm not just a fan of Elvis Presley, I'm also a fan of Linda Thompson, such a beautiful and seemingly perfect match for Mr Presley.. I know why she felt like she had to go and I agree with her, but hey they made each other happy for a while anyway and that's what matters! ( But I do scratch my head about Bruce.. LOL just kidding!)

I absolutely love the short video clip of you, Lisa Marie, & Elvis coming out of a store, or restaurant & getting into the vehicle. I also love your book. It took me less than 48hrs to listen to it lol. I felt as if I was in your memories ❤️‍🔥😘
