I love it when a youtube reactor does some research and not just watch and depend on comments to understand. You will get comments either way, the "Sabaton army" is big and very active on youtube comments.

Well. Not surprising that he got permission. 😊 Since Sabaton really enjoys the react-community. Something that some people forget is that Sabaton is so much more than a baller metal-band. They're teachers, bards and lecturers who passionately teach us about both amazing stories of heroism and tales of the utter horrors of war, and they do so without taking sides, like the true teachers that they are. ❤ So ofc they like reactors, many of them introduce the message and tunes of theirs to audiences that probably would've never even heard of them otherwise. ❤️🤘🇸🇪🤘❤️

For context, Sweden actually re-gained independence from Denmark in 1523. What happened was that the three kingdoms of Denmark, Norway and Sweden combined into one, called the "Kalmar Union". It was controlled by the Danish royalty, and while it lasted for about 100 years, tensions were pretty high between Danes and Swedes for long stretches of that period. What finally prompted the Swedes to seek independence again was a combination of things, but when the Danish king Kristian II came to Stockholm to be crowned king of Sweden, things took a turn for the worse. There was supposed to be a party after the coronation ceremony, and lots of Swedish nobles were invited to attend. However, it was a trap. King Kristian II ordered about 100 nobles to be executed, with little to no reason, other than "he could". The king became known as "Kristian the Tyrant" in Sweden, and the event is known in history as the "Stockholm Bloodbath". (There is a recent movie about this, but it is highly innacurate and should be avoided.) The town square that hosted the masacre is still around today and these days hosts market stalls, but when you visit it, and, you think back to what happened over 500 years ago in the same spot....it hits differently. It is said that the whole square was covered in blood, and that it poured down the cobbled streets of old Stockholm, where the massacre took place. "The red wedding"-event in Game of Thrones was inspired by this historical massacre.

Oh, that's super interesting! I remember hearing about the Kalmar Union in a previous video but didn't quite understand it... you explained it very well, thank you! On that video people had commented about the long-standing rivalry between Sweden and Denmark, and how Sweden and Denmark have had the most wars against each other of any country, except maybe France and Britain? Hearing a story like that, I can understand why. So there was a lot of tension there for centuries, but now it's mostly like a "sibling" relationship, correct?

@@michael.adamyk We haven't actually fought since 1814, so going 200+ years of peace now. But that wasn't the historical norm... And all the nordics tease eachother, CONSTANTLY. I'd say the Danes get the worst of it though, on account of their language and that historically they were the top dogs most of the time.

​@@michael.adamyk Indeed, these days it is a sibling rivalry between Denmark and Sweden. These 2 countries actually hold the record for most wars fought against each other, beating Britain/France with a fair margin.

Great reaction brother,this song can be implemented at any time era,war,soldier or event.At the end of the day,a soldier is a soldier.War has been sucking for thousands of years.Maybe we learn from of our mistakes in the next.....idk.....2000 years or so? Us humans truly sux,js.

Some years ago i read a story in a museum, about a man how left his home and his pregnant wife, as the army called for service. 18 years later, still in duty, he met is son for the first time. On a battlefield in nothern Germany. I dont remember the source of the story, whether it is based on letters, or somthing else more reliable than just beeing told over generations. Nor do I remember if any of the two soldiers returned home alive. Guess I have to go back to te museum some day and read it again.

Thanks so much, great video, also emotional to me ❣️ Sabaton is new to me. And brilliant one. I noticed that this band has also honoured the Finns with their song Winter War, Talvisota. And with the song “White Death” which is telling about Simo Häyhä, a sniper feared by the Russians. He shot at least 505 Red Army soldiers in the Winter War. Thank you Sabaton 🇫🇮❤️🇸🇪🇺🇸🙏🫡

Always love reactions to this video in particular as I was in the crowd for that show. I didn't really "get" how powerful the sound of the crowds singing was until I saw it from this perspective, it was very different hearing it from down on the floor, in the middle of the crowd. I have two other favourite Sabaton anti-war songs you could check out. "The price of a mile" is an absolute CLASSIC, unfortunatly it doesn't have an official music video, just lyric videos and fan-creations. But they did a VERY lavish music-video for "The Christmas truce" if you haven't seen that one.

I had one arrogant american comment that we were pussies. I explained to him that weve had lots of wars against Russia and won more than half of them. Would he be inclined to share how many wars THEY'VE had against Russia? He didnt reply after that, which is a shame, because I was actually prepared to give him for winning the Cold war. But still that was only 1 war.
