An emotional Hulk Hogan recalls his Wrestlemania 3 Main Event Match with Andre The Giant - WWF - WWE

I was only 8 years old when Andre the Giant fought Hulk Hogan. I remember I had to clean both my front yard and back yard, my room, the bathroom, and the kitchen so that my Mom would purchase the pay per view so that I could see Wrestlemania III. I get so emotional watching this now because of all the sweet memories of my childhood. What I would do and give just to go back to that era. Thank you for sharing this.

I still get chills when hulk slams him. What a moment. And for Andre to not kick out , you can tell what that gesture meant to hulk. Real men who showed each other respect.

You can tell Hulk is getting emotional talking about his friend Andre … which made me emotional 😂 Just wish they would have got Meltzer outta this and just left Hulks part in

Top 5 greatest sports moment of all time. I was losing my mind when I saw this... My brothers and I screamed for hours and kept replicating this for years. We had no idea who the real hero of the story was. God Bless Andre may he rest in peace in heaven.

That just goes to show how much Andre meant to hogan and vince because they always say good things about Andre and in this documentary when hogan said that he wouldn’t let Andre do anything that would hurt his back because you can see under the singlet that Andre is wearing if you look closely you can see he is also wearing a back brace

A couple of facts about the match which were not mentioned in this video. 1. When Hogan went to slam him for the first time, and both of them were falling to the mat, Andre let loose with a tremendous fart! When talking about it in another video, Hogan said it was so nasty and nauseating, he almost was not able to get his shoulder up before the count of three. 2. Hogan really did hurt his lower back from body slamming him. Leg dropping him afterwards definitely didn't do his spine any good neither. He wrenched at least one disc, was taking steroids for it, and that is what led to the later scandal.

If you think WWE is big today, I wish ya would have seen WWF in the 80s and 90s.. it was everything, almost every wrestler that came out of that hall was a star... I remember watching this fight with my dad, of course, we had to see it on videotape because hardly anyone had cable to watch it live.. but it was the best moments in my childhood
@SteveCA19722 жыл бұрын
Funny how the poster boy at that time (Hulk Hogan) who literally was carrying the WWF logo didn't know what only Vince and Andre knew to be the outcome of that match - until it was over.
@mattthomas1442 Жыл бұрын
Yeah I don't doubt that Andre may have said to Hogan earlier in the match that he may or may not put him over like Hogan likes to tell but even if he did say that Hogan had to of known he was just ribbing him and that there was no way a professional like Andre would go into business for himself after all these years on the biggest event of all time. I also don't believe that Hogan wasn't expecting Andre to call for slam, the whole time leading up to show the narrative was if Hogan could slam Andre, that's why he tried and failed at the start of the match just to build to it. He wouldn't have done that spot if he wasn't going to actually go through with the slam later in the match cause all it would've done was show that Hogan couldn't do what he said he was going to.

@youtubeuser51732 жыл бұрын
Fun Fact: Andre had actually been slammed many times before. Some of the wrestlers who slammed him BEFORE this match include - Butcher Vachon, Riki Choshu, Strong Kobayashi, Antonio Inoki, Stan Hansen, The Wild Samoans, Harley Race, Kamala AND Hulk Hogan himself actually slammed Andre at a Shea Stadium show in 1980.
@Jungletraveler00_12 Жыл бұрын
Andre was not as heavy earlier, it makes sense that so many people could slam him.

You can see on Andre's face as he was getting pinned it was like he's crying and there were shades of it as he was pointing at Hulk as he's leaving the ring. Something like Ric Flair when he took the Sweet Chin Music at Wrestlemania to end his WWE run.

What I love most about Andre is that he knew how much was too much for an opponent. He was able to judge accurately how long he could stand on someone's back, with all that 500+lbs force, without their spine snapping. I'd say he put more effort into controlling the amount of force his opponents received. Cuz let's face it: Andre could easily have broken someone in half, just like snapping a wooden twig.
@hectorlopez10692 жыл бұрын
You can tell, hogan thought Andre was going to beat him. He was nervous. Then, Andre close out the match with a slam, led drop.
