The shot where Quill gets saved at the end doesn't just look like the fresco you're thinking of... The fresco is called "The Creation of Adam" ... And in it, God reaching out to give life to Adam. And what do we see here? Quill (aka Star LORD) being saved by ADAM Warlock. So good.

I always see this as the true end of the Infinity Saga as Thanos was more of a personal villain to the GOTG than the Avengers so to see them part ways is a proper way to end it.
