Thanks and I do, it helps me know what to fish for and where to go, especially in the slower periods.

What a great session Larry and there you go - just what I mentioned previously about just how good the poppers are when the fish are switched on! Was almost expecting you to trial the double popper rig! I think that the colour you used here is the best all rounder, but I have also caught on yellow, red, green and even black poppers - they are highly underestimated for salmon and tailor fishing.
@LarrysFishing9 күн бұрын
Thanks so much and will need to use yellow or red next time, both shops in town are out of the blue. I will try that double popper in the next week or so, really intrigued on how that will go.

Great morning fishing, looking forward to part 2. Just went and ordered some of them popper rigs from Real McCoy Fishing. Very unreasonably priced.
@LarrysFishing10 күн бұрын
I haven't looked, but I know Tackleworld here sells them for $8. I must say, that rig worked a charm. Thanks Simon and hope all is well with you.

@@LarrysFishing Pro tip - buy them online, you can get 10, 20 or 40 for about $1-2 each, I certainly wouldn't be paying what local Aussie tackle stores ask for them. Just check hook sizes, I would suggest at least 1/0, maybe larger.
@LarrysFishing9 күн бұрын
@@captainfrank01 They are $2 just for the popper at the local shop, but around $8 with the gang hooks and sinker.

Love going new places, especially when it all works out nicely. Had a trip this morning that produced a doughnit, so its a bit hit and miss I guess.

Wow Larry. What a beautiful morning to go beach fishing. And it was worth the effort. Great session. Nice to catch a tailor first up and those salmon just kept smashing the popper. Great vid, thanks.
@LarrysFishing9 күн бұрын
Yeah, that popper did the trick and it was a solid 2 hours of nothing but casting and reeling. Part-2 will be out tomorrow. Thanks for watching Jason!

Before this month, only used one of them once and it didn't do much, but this was a different color and maybe that had something to do with the success.

Very nice sun view at the start! That 3rd was it? 62cm is a nice one! I've always wondered fishing beaches like this....thinking you got to cast real far out! Fish are strong AF fighting those currents all day lol. Gotta always use pretty heavy hooks hey? Currents be pushing it all over i'd think. Sweet vid!
@LarrysFishing9 күн бұрын
Casting distance depens on the tide and gutters. Some spots are only 10 yards off the beach, other times 50-60, so its a bit of searching. I'm using a 110 gram sinker and it holds pretty good and yes, need some strong/heavy hooks, had a few get bent when I first started beach fishing, so its been a good learning lesson. Thanks Cody!

3 great sessions in a row Larry. A couple of questions if I can sir. What is the length and rating of the rod you are using? Where did you get the Surf Rod holder? Looks like a beauty. Cheers
@LarrysFishing9 күн бұрын
I'm using a 15 foot Shimano Hyperloop and I'm not sure of the rating, but its been terrific. The rod holder is made from a local guy in Eden and it too has worked great. Appreciate you watching and hope you are having a great weekend.
